Why Elden Ring dogs are so awful — even 150 hours in

Elden Ring’s dogs give me Probleme. I am plagued by rotten dogs, regular dog, Monstrous Dogs,wolves and Red Wolves.

Over 150 hours spent playing Elden Ring, I’ve learned to overcome plenty of challenging enemies. But I still get regularly surprised, harassed, and murdered by freakin’ Doggy owners.

To find the cause, I pulled out my weaponry and drew a group of dogs in. Elden Ring. Four reasons dogs can be a problem for me.

The problem is their moveset. The main problem is their unpredictable movement patterns. Dogs will jump in and jaws are open. They may then run away from you or circle to surround them. As Caleb Clark pointed out in the comments, if you’re fighting a pack of dogs and target lock on one, your camera will follow that dog when it flanks — and expose you to rear attacks from the rest of the pack. Dastardly!

The dogs’ animations also aren’t remotely realistic. Their skulls look distorted and their jaws seem to unhinge whenever they bite. This is combined with their aggressive and quick snapping and lunging, which makes them a perfect recipe for tilting my head and losing all of my runes. Dogs were once even.
