PlayStation Portal Remote Play Device Launches Later This Year For $200
PlayStation unveiled a remote-play handheld device dedicated to the DualSense DualSense controller. The screen has one side on either side. The company did not disclose its price or name. Today, PlayStation has revealed it’s called the PlayStation Portal and will cost $199.99 when it’s released later this year.
The PlayStation Portal remote player includes the features you’d expect from a DualSense controller like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Between the two controller halves, there’s an 8″ LCD screen that can display 1080p/60FPS. PlayStation says the device is “for gamers in households where they might need to share their living room TV or simply want to play PS5 games in another room of the house.”
PlayStation Portal can connect to your PS5 via Wi-Fi and play games that are compatible on the console. It has a wired 3.5mm jack, but the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore headsets as well as the existing Pulse headphone can be connected wirelessly.
PSVR2 games, which require the headset, and games streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium’s cloud streaming are not supported, however.
PlayStation Portal launches later in this year, priced at $199.99. There’s no release date yet for the device, but PlayStation says it will have more details soon on when preorders begin.
