Original Story, August 23, 23:
PlayStation announced a handheld remote control device earlier this summer. It has a DualSense DualSense Controller on both sides of the LCD display. The company did not disclose its price or name. Today, PlayStation has revealed it’s called the PlayStation Portal and will cost $199.99 when it’s released later this year.
The PlayStation Portal remote player includes the features you’d expect from a DualSense controller like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. The 8-inch screen is positioned between the controller halves and can playback 1080p/60FPS. PlayStation says the device is “for gamers in households where they might need to share their living room TV or simply want to play PS5 games in another room of the house.”
PlayStation Portal allows you to play compatible games on your PS5 console remotely. This device has a wired 3.5mm audio connector, but the Pulse Explore and Pulse Elite headphones can be connected wirelessly to the PlayStation Portal using the PlayStation Link technology. More information about the two audio devices can be found here.
PSVR2 games, which require the headset, and games streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium’s cloud streaming are not supported, however.
PlayStation Portal launches later in this year, priced at $199.99. There’s no release date yet for the device, but PlayStation says it will have more details soon on when preorders begin.
