The world’s first Unique Deck Game, every single deck is completely different — right down to the art and stats on each of its cards. FFG’s computer algorithm can produce 32 billion decks. This is the secret sauce. The algorithm eventually broke in 2021. This failure, which is still unsolved, led to the indefinite suspension of the game, beginning in September.

It is not an easy or quick process, so the game will go on hiatus. […] We ask for your continued patience as we work to rebuild the unique deck engine in preparation for the game’s relaunch.”
Ghost Galaxy stated to Polygon, when Ghost Galaxy was reached for comment that their procedurally generated decks approach will be just as strong as its original implementation.
“Ghost Galaxy is creating its own software suite that will be capable of generating new KeyForge decks. Our team of software engineers is already working on this project, but we expect it will take several more months to complete,” said Ghost Galaxy’s Michael Hurley in an email. “Our new software will be capable of everything that FFG’s software could do. There are many unique decks. KeyForgeThis is dependent entirely on how large the card pool in a set. Since we plan to continue making new cards, the theoretical maximum number of unique decks will always be increasing.”
Ghost Galaxy is one of the few organizations that are partially funded by Strange Stars Venture Capital Company, which invests in software, manufacturing and virtual reality.
