FuseThe new technology in Tears of the Kingdom: The Legend of ZeldaThat offers a nearly limitless amount of potential. Weapon degradation is back, but you can still Fuse items with weapons (or even other weapons!) On the spot, you can create stronger versions of your existing armory.

This ability will be earned fairly quickly during your stay on the Great Sky Island, Tears Of The Kingdom’s introductory area. It’s a rule. Here’s how it works — and how to reverse it by finding some to Unfuse Your items

What to do when you want to fuse items and weapons in Zelda: The Tears of the Kingdom

Once you’ve acquired the Fuse capability, everything is at your fingertips. The radial menu will appear when you hold down the left bumper. You can select Fuse by selecting this option.

You can Fuse just about anything together, including rocks onto sticks, swords, and spears to create hammers — which can then be used to break rocks to obtain Flint, Amber, DiamondsYou can fuse various items with arrows to create different effects. For example, Keese eyesballs are used for homing. For various effects, you can Fuse Keese eyes to create homing Arrows. Even produce like Hylian tomatoes, to spears and swords (but I wouldn’t suggest it since those food items can be used in better ways and don’t actually offer any kind of major damage boost.)

Interestingly enough, you can also fuse these rare minerals onto weapons to grant them magical effects — for instance, attaching a ruby to a weapon will allow you to shoot fireballs that will bounce off of surfaces. Moreover, certain weapons are better suited to specific materials. Zonai weaponry is included in this. You can boost the power of your Zonai weapons by Fusing the hilt with the material of the Zonai construction.

That said, you can really stick anything and everything together — and thankfully, Fusing isn’t permanent. In the event that you accidentally use a precious material, like diamonds on a wooden stick, you are able to detach them, saving both materials. The only way to do it is after you’ve completed Great Sky Island.

Once you’ve made it to Hyrule proper, Tarrey Town is located on the East side of this map. Rasitakiwak Shrine, located just south of Tarrey Town, is a good fast-travel location. You do not have to finish a temple to use the fast-travel location.

Tarrey Town is a great place to visit PelisonThe Goron kid in the square of the city, unfuse those weapons to get back the precious materials. The cost to Defuse any weapons is 20 Rupees. This is also the only way we’ve found so far to Unfuse weapons while keeping the Fused item intact, by the way. You can’t just shake them apart as you can with any creations you’ve made using the Ultrahand ability. So while fusing isn’t permanent, it can cost a hefty toll if you don’t keep track of what you’re slapping together.

That said, if you’re not too attached to whatever you’ve combined, you can always go into the item menu, select the weapon you’ve Fused, and select the “Destruction of Fused Material” option. This will demolish the item attached to the weapon you’ve used as a base, though, so keep that in mind before resorting to this method.
