Hideki Kamiya Starts YouTube Channel Post-Platinum Games, Says He’s Not Retiring
Hideki Kamiya resigned from Platinum Games last month. He founded the studio in Osaka in Japan in 2006. Later, working on Bayonetta, and The Wonderful 101 he did not reveal his reasons for leaving. He said that “this came after much consideration, based on my beliefs,” and that “he felt this outcome was for the better.” Now, just a few weeks later, Kamiya has started a YouTube channel – aptly called “Hideki Kamiya Channel” – and in his first video, he reveals he’s not retiring, as first reported by VideoGamesChronicle.
Kamiya is seen in the video leaving his office, presumably with an assortment of trinkets in tow. He then drives off in a Lamborghini. In the video, Kamiya jokes about being unemployed and jokingly asks people to subscribe to him. VideoGamesChronicle reports that Kamiya says he actually hasn’t been to work for a while.
Translation: “I think I’ve been quitting for about three months,” says the man. VideoGamesChronicle. After I left, I cleaned up the toys. “Once I had finished cleaning up, I could go home and enjoy my vacation.”
He says, “there is no way that I can explain it.” This leaves the reasons for his departure ambiguous. He continues to state, “I quit the company to pursue my passion as a video game developer.” [to]Then I’ll move forward. Okay, well I won’t be retiring just yet. “I want to continue creating games.”
For now, Kamiya has said he cannot work in the games industry for an entire year because of “reasons,” which are probably non-competition clauses that were attached to his separation from Platinum Games. VideoGamesChronicle notes.

Kamiya and Shinji Michami founded Platinum Games. Shinji has since left Tango Gameworks. Fans hope Kamiya, Mikami and their team will reunite. However, there are no signs that they will do so at this time. Kamiya adopted Masahiro Sakurani’s YouTube channel idea when he took some time away from work to create it after Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at the beginning of Switch’s lifespan.
