Gran Turismo PC version under consideration, says Polyphony Digital

Polyphony Digital, the Gran Turismo creator, has disclosed that they are considering porting this storied series to PC.

GT Planet asked Michael if he would be open to a PC version. Gran Turismo 7, series creator and Polyphony head Kazunori Yamauchi said, “Yes, I do think so.”

However, he warned that the task of bringing a series that is known for their technical performances to an open platform like PC would not be easy. “Gran Turismo is a very finely tuned title,” Yamauchi said. “There are not many platforms which could run the game in 4K/60 natively, so one way we make that possible is to narrow down the platform. It’s not a very easy subject, but of course, we are looking into it and considering it.”

GT Planet points this out however Gran Turismo 7The software is already compatible with both PlayStation 4 as well as PlayStation 5.

Yamauchi may be put under considerable pressure by Sony to get it done. Gran Turismo has never been played on other hardware than PlayStation, however, Sony Interactive Entertainment, which has been making a series of big exclusive games available for PC in recent years, has had some success bringing its most popular titles to PC.

Gran Turismo 7It was controversially released, with players reacting to the slow economy and pushing them towards exorbitantly-priced in-game purchases. Yamauchi ultimately relented and made the game more generous. But the dispute hampered the release of an otherwise great racing game.

It took until last week — Nov. 24 — for Polyphony to patch Gran Turismo 7 The much-requested opportunity to sell cars and increase your income, which was promised back in March. Gran Turismo 1.26 also featured the real-life Road Atlanta circuit.

If Gran Turismo 7 does come to PC, it will find an enthusiastic racing game community on the platform — and set up a head-to-head clash with Microsoft rival Forza MotorsportAfter a hiatus of five and a half years,, will be back on Xbox as well PC spring 2023.
