Randy Pitchford has been largely involved in some of Gearbox Software’s most popular games – namely, Bulletstorm and the Borderlands franchise. Gearbox has announced the Borderlands movie and is now looking to expand its transmedia reach. Pitchford also announced that he will be stepping down as Software manager to devote his time and energy to film and television projects. Pitchford is no longer directly involved with videogame development, but remains as the company’s chief executive officer. Pitchford’s position will be filled by Steve Jones (CTO).
Steve Jones deserves congratulations. He was promoted recently to be President of Software for The Gearbox Entertainment Company. Below is an illustration of my high-level organizational chart and excerpts from my internal letter informing about the promotion. pic.twitter.com/4FeX94SIW2

Randy Pitchford posted a tweet congratulating Jones for his promotion. He also shared company organizational diagrams and excerpts from the staff to give more context.
I will not change my current creative work with you. My experience and institutional knowledge with our brands and franchises will continue to be at the disposal of our projects through the existing interfaces and touchpoints we have been using … Finally, I will be working to develop and grow our new Gearbox Studios business unit. In the near future, I will have the ability to create a small self-driven team, which includes a President for Gearbox Studios who will lead our transmedia efforts.
Beyond the Borderlands film, what’s Gearbox’s future? Well … more Borderlands, of course! Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is the story of Tiny Tina, a 13-year-old girl who navigates through dangerous dungeons. You will meet many stallions, yes that is what they are called, and fire-spitting Dragons during the entire adventure. Tina’s crazy imagination means that the world evolves constantly and players are sure to have a great time. Pitchford spoke out in support of the announcement, saying that “bringing real Borderlands guns to battle dragons, skulls, goblins and other creatures in this original fantasy world created by Tiny Tina” was a true dream.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 4. It will also be available on PlayStation 4 Xbox One and PC starting March 25.
