Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford has been largely involved in some of Gearbox Software’s most popular games – namely, Bulletstorm and the Borderlands franchise. With the announcement of the Borderlands movie, Gearbox is moving towards expanding its transmedia horizons. Pitchford also announced his plans to expand the scope of media, beyond just video games. He will be working as president at Gearbox Studios on film, television, and other projects.

Randy Pitchford, a tweeter posted diagrams of the company and excerpts of staff for additional context.
I will not change my current creative work with you. My experience and institutional knowledge with our brands and franchises will continue to be at the disposal of our projects through the existing interfaces and touchpoints we have been using … Finally, I will be working to develop and grow our new Gearbox Studios business unit. In the near future, I will have the ability to create a small self-directed team, which includes a President for Gearbox Studios who will lead our transmedia efforts.
Beyond the Borderlands film, what’s Gearbox’s future? Well … more Borderlands, of course! Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is the story of Tiny Tina, a 13-year-old girl who navigates through treacherous dungeons. There will be many stallions, yes that is what they are called, and fire-spitting Dragons along the way. Tina’s imaginative world is constantly changing so you can expect a wild ride. Pitchford, who was the first to announce the game, stated, “Bringing actual Borderlands guns in battle against dragons, skulls, goblins and other creatures in an original fantasy universe imagined by Tiny Tina as a full-featured Triple-A videogame is a dream come real for me.”
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be launched for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 25, as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
