Earthbound And Earthbound Beginnings Hit Switch Today

Rarely do we see big Nintendo Directs such as the one today that lasted 40 minutes, or any Earthbound news. Nintendo revealed that the SNES Classic Earthbound, as well as its NES prequel Earthbound Beginnings are finally coming to Switch.

The Nintendo Switch Online SNES Collection will include Earthbound. This collection is free to all users. Earthbound Beginnings is also going to be a part of Switch’s NES collection.

For those unfamiliar with Earthbound, it’s a 1994 JRPG that follows a small-town boy named Ness who is tasked by a time-traveling bee to save the world from an alien invasion. He meets many strange people and joins a group of three very talented children as he travels around the world. It’s called Mother 2 in Japan. However, the American version is the first.

Earthbound Beginnings was the first Mother title not released outside Japan for sixteen years. This 1989 JRPG was released locally on Wii U. Earthbound lets you take on the role of Ninten (a child who appears normal) and uses her psychic powers to embark on a bizarre adventure. Earthbound Beginnings 2 is available now, instead of being released on 3DS/NES Classic.

We hope that Mother 3 will see some light outside Japan with the release these timeless classics. Get ready to start praying for Nintendo Direct.
