Destiny 2’s season 17 will improve glaives and Exotics

Bungie created one of the most important companies in its history Destiny 2On Thursday, the most focused blogs of recent memory were created. Nearly 9,000 words were used to describe major weapons updates that the studio will be making on its MMO May 24, along with the launch of the current season.

It is impossible to count the minutes. Destiny 2 changes to describe here, so we’re going to break down two of the biggest changes that will have the biggest impacts on players: glaive and Exotic changes.

Since Bungie introduced Glaives with their game, they have not been as strong. The Witch QueenIn February, expansion. While exciting, they just don’t perform well in any difficult content. Bungie wants to fix that problem with major upgrades.

Bungie first clarified their intent. The glaive melee should be able to contribute to damage perks as well as act like a normal melee. A melee kill with the “glaive” should activate the Swashbuckler perk. However, damage will be increased only for the ranged attack. That’s the current plan, at least.

Concrete improvements include 25% greater damage to PvE enemies next season from glaive melees and 30% lower energy costs for shielding. The range stat will affect all glaive projectile speeds, so they’ll move much faster. They should perform well in higher end content. Players can use them to defend their homes while still packing a punch.

Bungie continues to make significant improvements in the Exotic Glaives. All players who are inside a Void shield will be able to use the Edge of Action Titan mini-bubble glaive glaive, which will blind targets within the shield. The Edge of Intent Warlock Exotic glaive’s healing turret will gain increased speed and acceleration. The Edge of Concurrence Exotic Hunter glaive’s damage is being tripled and it can now chain to eight enemies instead of four.

Bungie has made changes in the area of Exotics that are not visible to the public.

  • Fighting Lion
  • Eyes of Tomorrow
  • Leviathan’s Breath
  • Huckleberry
  • Xenophage
  • Le Monarque
  • Lorentz Driver
  • Skyburner’s Oath
  • The Final Word
  • Arbalest
  • Graviton Lance
  • Grand Overture
  • Coldheart
  • Prometheus Lens
  • Wavesplitter
  • Osteo Striga
  • Lord of Wolves

Most of these updates are minor buffs, or nerfs to the damage. However, some of them have significant reworks.

Leviathan’s Breath, one of the worst Exotics in the game, is getting a 50% damage buff. This Exotic can now split damage from impact and detonation, so it will stun Unstoppable Champion’s and do damage while it does this. It is aiming to eliminate Unstoppable Champions when it is used in high-end content. This latest update seems promising.

Eyes of Tomorrow (the raid Exotic of Deep Stone Crypt) will receive a 30% increase in boss and Champion damage. Because it’s so powerful in Grandmaster Nightfalls Arbalest can deal 25% less Champions damage. Graviton Lance’s Catalyst will now give players Vorpal Weapon and Turnabout instead of Hidden Hand. Grand Overture is now able to shoot five rocket bursts in one tap.

The Skyburner’s Oath scout rifle is getting some significant improvements as well. Both modes fire 150 rounds per minute and the aimed shot can now hitcan, meaning it hits enemies instantly. The hip-fire attack won’t track enemies anymore, but the shots will detonate in a wider radius and apply a burn to enemies. Also, the gun has a greater range and Masterwork grants an increased speed to reload.

The game’s first three Exotic trace rifles will also see some reworks — in addition to 20% increased trace rifle damage against non-red bar enemies. Coldheart can now create Ionic Traces to deal damage. This gives you ability energy. Prometheus Lens will apply a “more useful burn,” which is a bit confusing, but might make more sense when Bungie eventually updates the Solar subclasses. Wavesplitter now oscillates only between two power levels and stays on the “medium” setting. However, picking up an Orb of Power grants 10s (up to 20) turns it to the “max power” setting of old, which also suppresses targets.

This is just a fraction of Bungie’s blog, which focuses heavily on in-air combat for PvP, perks, and some ability changes. Bungie has also disclosed a variety of Iron Banner and Trials weapons, as well as a system which will allow some playlist weapons and additional perks to be dropped with increased playlist level.

These changes are included in what promises to be an enormous list of patch notes by May 24.
