Cover Reveal – Horizon Forbidden West

Guerrilla Games impressed us this year with its new IP. It was unlike anything the company had produced before. Guerrilla Games is best known for its shooter Killzone series. Now, Guerrilla has flipped the script to explore open-world action/RPG and invites us into a post-apocalyptic world where large, animal-like robots have been integrated into the ecosystem. Horizon Zero Dawn proved to be a great success. It featured adrenaline pumping battles, a strong protagonist in Aloy and many exciting discoveries. We couldn’t wait to experience more, especially since Guerrilla had left some loose ends hanging. Horizon Forbidden West is coming soon, with a February 18 release.

For our 12-page cover story, we spoke to Guerrilla Games about what Aloy’s adventure westward will entail, and we were treated to two hands-off demos. The first demo showed an area of the game and gave a peek at some more intricate towns, character models and the workbench and skill tree systems. We were able to witness a boss fighting against an even more formidable foe in our second demo. However, the new machines are only part of Aloy’s struggles this time around. You can learn more about Aloy’s additional challenges and problems, and Guerrilla Games’ plans to take Horizon Forbidden West’s gameplay and Aloy to new heights.
