Ahsoka season 1 review: Well, that was lousy Star Wars
Let’s say you’re hanging out with some people who’ve known each other for a long time. Maybe longer than they’ve known you. All these things they have. hilariousIn-jokes are often made and they constantly refer to times when the two of them hung out. You were not there for those times. It’s all they do. The never try to educate you or discuss topics you already know. What a bunch of assholes, right? AhsokaIs like one of these jerks.
Each week, AhsokaThe level of confusion has varied, depending on how much you’ve invested in Star Wars. If you’re the type that’s deep in it, well-versed in the animated series and its implications, Ahsoka — while not a good show — is at least an opportunity to feel useful. Because for those that aren’t up-to-date on deep Star Wars lore, AhsokaThis series has been an accumulating disaster. Its few shining moments (gorgeous, epic space battles and cute, turtle-like characters, Ray Stevenson, for example) have been overwhelmed by one that was so disinterested in entertaining those who were not converted, I found it impossible to continue watching it. It’s like I can imagine what Obi Wan felt when he was in the pits at Mustafar. AhsokaI was the one who should have been chosen, and that’s why I told others. See I wasn’t an idiot for watching all those Star Wars cartoons; you’d like them. Instead, I felt like a fool for watching those Star Wars animated cartoons.
It is not surprising that the current obsession with interconnected cinematic worlds, and the vertical integration of streaming platforms makes viewers feel as if they are responsible for doing their homework. Like it’s their fault if a story doesn’t make sense, because answers are, ostensibly, attainable with a few taps on an app and several hours of your time. I’ll do you a favor: It is not you.

Ahsoka’s cardinal sin is a simple one: It’s the middle of a story that the viewer has no way of knowing they started. How to make sense AhsokaSomeone has to inform you that this is the sequel to RebelsThe film relies on several bizarre arcs to make it. Clone WarsThe fact that the big bad guy is actually a throwback to Legacy novels from decades ago and a Big Deal. It’s the only way to keep from getting frustrated. Ahsoka’s cliffhanger ending is by going in with the knowledge that creator Dave Filoni is working towards a film that will wrap up his “New Republic” story, and that real closure won’t come until then — regardless of whether or not AhsokaThe second season of the show, or its storylines are carried on in The Mandalorian.
It is not a stand-alone series. Absolutely none of its character or plot arcs make any sense without extensive background knowledge, and all of the cool stuff — and there is some Cool shit in this finale — will come As of nowUninitiated viewers may be turned off by something so out-of-left field. Imagine for a second, that you are watching AhsokaYou may only have seen live action shows or theatrical movies. What if you only saw the live-action shows or theatrical films? bananasWhat a shock it would be to learn that there are You can also call it necromancyYou can also find out more about the following: You can also use magicStar Wars? It’s the kind of leap that’s best made after making absolutely sure that your audience has been sufficiently onboarded, because it’s also the kind of leap that can turn them away.
It’s a storyteller’s responsibility to care for the audience and respect their time. That’s not to say that the audience shouldn’t ever have to work to understand what’s going on or that it’s wrong to expect them to engage with a narrative on a deeper level, but the text in front of them should give the viewer everything they need. And what’s on screen in AhsokaThis time is a complete waste.

It is amazing how little is accomplished in the eight most recent episodes. AhsokaThe story begins with Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson), who is on a mission that she started on. Another way to say it is that you can also use anotherShow to find Grand Adm. Thrawn. He’s lost so far out in space that it takes several episodes to even get a map. But it’s worth it, we’re told, because this guy is Real Estate bad, and also he’s stuck with Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), a guy so good that it’s worth the risk of giving Thrawn a ticket out of limbo. Ahsoka, as the star of Star Wars Rebels, gets her own small story arc, where Anakin Skywalker’s (Hayden Christenson), former mentor, shows up in a Force Ghost form to provide her with cryptic and confusing advice. Ahsoka then gives this cryptic advice on to Sabine Wren the Mandalorian (Natasha Liu Bordizzo). It’s worth noting, by the way, that Sabine and Ahsoka’s relationship of Master and Apprentice is entirely new, an off-screen dynamic no one has seen or heard about until Ahsoka premiered. It is possible that you think their relationship, as most do, is weak. Ahsoka, something you missed from a cartoon you didn’t watch, but nope. It’s all that there is.
Tonally, AhsokaIt’s even confused on how to deliver the big story beats. While Ahsoka & Sabine have accomplished the mission to find and save Ezra at the end of season, they still failed. The following are some of the reasons why you should consider hiring someone else freed what’s supposed to be the biggest threat to the galaxy since the Emperor. Kevin Kiner is perhaps one of the most talented John Williams’ interpolators who worked on Star Wars. Ahsoka Instead, it lingers over happy reunions and nostalgic moments. It completely ignores the fact that this story is about what could be considered to have been the worst possible outcome.
These are fundamental failings that would sink any show, and they don’t even account for nuts and bolts issues like stiff performances, stilted dialogue, and underwhelming action choreography. Fan service — even visually striking, fun-to-watch fan service — is not enough to build a show around and expect people to tune into the next one. I would even settle for a show that made sense, because from what’s on screen, very basic questions like “would Thrawn have escaped anyway without Ahsoka and Sabine finding him?” are Unbelievable unclear.
However, what can I say? I’m just some chump who watched a bunch of cartoons.
