Xbox is Building the Gaming Platform for the Next 20 Years
This Sunday, at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, we’ll be giving our fans a closer look at an amazing line-up of games coming to Xbox, PC, and cloud. As we prepare to pull back the curtain on the games to come, we also wanted to share some updates on how you’ll be able to play them. It’s a way for us to keep you updated on our progress in our mission to spread the joy of gaming among the three billion gamers worldwide.
WiTh Xbox’s 20th anniversary recently behind us, it’s also important to let you know what to expect from Team Xbox, including our devices and services, as we build a platform for the NextTwenty years of gaming. Today, we’d like to share what we’re doing next to continue making Xbox the best value in gaming for players to enjoy the best games, across genres and across console, PC, and cloud, including new Xbox Game Studios titles with Xbox Game Pass the same day they launch.

As Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer sees it, “We’re building a platform that can reach billions of players—whether it’s on console, whether it’s on PC, whether it’s through Xbox cloud streaming – where players on any device they want to play on should be able to find the content they want to play.”
Bring the Xbox App to Samsung 2022 Smart Televisions
Today, we announced we’re partnering with Samsung to bring the Xbox App to 2022 Smart TVs so that you can play hundreds of cloud-enabled games, without a console.
- This means that hundreds of games are available in the Game Pass Ultimate library and Fortnite is free to all without having to subscribe.
- Playing Xbox games on Samsung’s 2022 Smart TVs will be a seamless experience – it will be similar to using any other streaming app on your TV.
- It’s simple, starting on June 30, access the Xbox app from the Samsung Gaming Hub or Media Hub and log into your existing Microsoft account, connect your favorite Bluetooth controller.
- If you’re a Game Pass Ultimate member, you’ll have access to play loads of great cloud-enabled games, or you can jump into Fortnite You do not need a subscription

Cloud Gaming continues to grow
Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), which is designed to fulfill demand and provide gaming to more people, has opened its doors to new players from Argentina and New Zealand.

- Fortnite is available for both Argentina and New Zealand players.
Microsoft Edge and Windows 11 Get New Gaming Experiences
We’re continuing to collaborate across Microsoft to provide great gaming experiences. This collaboration continues as Windows 11 receives new updates to improve the gaming experience.
- Windows Insider currently tests optimizations for windowed gaming. They are intended to dramatically improve latency, unlock exciting gaming features such as Auto HDR (VRR) and Variable Resfresh Rate (VRR).
- The new HDR calibration app allows players to increase color accuracy and maintain consistency in their HDR displays.
- Game Pass Widget lets players browse, discover and play games through Game Pass. Players can also jump back to their most recently played titles.
- You will find shortcuts and a list with the latest games in Controller Bar. Players can use the Controller bar to access their Xbox Cloud Gaming or jump back into games. It is currently under evaluation in Windows Insider.

We’re also excited to share how Microsoft Edge is evolving to meet gamers’ needs and help bring gaming to everyone, everywhere. Microsoft Edge Desktop will soon offer exclusive gaming features, as well as some Xbox Cloud Gaming integrations.
- New personalized gaming homepage featuring game news, video guides, live streaming, highlight videos, tournaments and Xbox Cloud Gaming Library, which includes easy access to recent games and other related content.
- Clarity Boost is a built-in feature that makes cloud gaming more enjoyable when used in Microsoft Edge on Windows.
- The new Games menu in Microsoft Edge offers easy access to free, popular games like Microsoft Solitaire, Atari Asteroids, Microsoft Jewel, and Microsoft Edge’s exclusive Surf game, plus helps players discover new ones.
- By automatically decreasing browser resources when playing a computer game, Efficiency Mode helps to improve Windows 10 or 11 gaming performance.

Xbox Game Pass Members Get More
We’re excited to share that later this year, it’s our intent to roll out the ability for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play, from the cloud, select games they already own or have purchased outside the Xbox Game Pass library.
We’re also revealing the first details of Project Moorcroft, a program that brings the fun and discovery of playing new, curated demos of upcoming games to our Xbox Game Pass members.
- This program will start rolling out in the next year. It will focus on offering independent developers worldwide more opportunities to generate excitement for their game.
- Developers who participate in the program will have access to their demos and can be paid. This allows them to showcase their creativity on Xbox, as well as reach new audiences through Game Pass.
You have more options to express yourself with the Design Lab
Xbox Design Lab gives players around the world the chance to show off their personality and allows for billions of combinations. We’ve expanded this audience, as well as the options for customization and color.
- This includes new pastel colors – Soft Pink, Soft Orange, Soft Green, and Soft Purple. As well as new Camo Top cases with matching side caps – Mineral Camo, Arctic Camo, Forest Camo, Sandglow Camo and Blaze Camo.
- Xbox Design Lab is also launching in 11 new countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Norway, Slovakia, Switzerland, and we’ll add Taiwan later this summer.

We are proud to announce today a number of improvements and changes to Xbox’s experience. These all form part of our mission of bringing the joy and community that gaming brings to every person on this planet. It’s a big goal, with multiple steps throughout the coming years. Although gaming is constantly evolving, we view connecting those who develop games and the players as an ongoing and rewarding endeavor.
