Xbox Gaming on Your Samsung Smart TV; No Console Required

Xbox has one mission: to make gaming fun for everyone. By delivering amazing games and services, we are committed to realizing this vision and making it easier for more people to have fun than ever. That’s why we created Xbox Game Pass and continue expanding Cloud Gaming to new devices – so that we can open up the ways people can play across the devices they already own: PC, console, mobile, tablet devices, and now Smart TVs.      

In June last year, the Xbox team shared their vision of bringing Xbox to even more people by working with international TV producers to make it possible for Smart TVs to have the Xbox app. Today, the Xbox team provided an update on our approach and vision, which included how we’re making last year’s vision a reality by bringing the Xbox app to Smart TVs, starting with our partner Samsung, the global leader in TVs.

Samsung and Xbox worked together to bring Xbox Game Pass to millions of Samsung Galaxy phone users around the globe. We are now partnering with them again to bring the Xbox gaming experience on their smart TVs in 2022. I’m excited for you to experience cloud gaming on Smart TVs on June 30 in 27 countries.

Xbox App now available on Smart TVs

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have easy, instant access to 100 of the best Xbox Games on 2022 Samsung Smart TVs. As we announced recently, you can play on your Samsung Smart TV 2022 with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Fortnite You do not need a subscription to cloud gaming.

New opportunities for playing are provided by the Xbox app for Smart TVs

• A new Samsung 2022 smart TV will give you more opportunities to play your favorite games.
• If you’re new to gaming, this is an easy way to get into the fun without needing to buy a PC or console and also to join a thriving community of over 25 million Game Pass members worldwide.   

First, we are making the Xbox App available for Samsung Smart TVs. Then, our intention is to look into other TV partnership opportunities as part our next evolution.  

It works

Xbox games can be played on 2022 Samsung televisions in a seamless way, just like other streaming apps. Just launch the app and connect your controller to start playing. Here’s the step by step:

• You can access the Xbox app through the Samsung Gaming Hub by logging into an existing Microsoft account. If you’re a Game Pass Ultimate member, you’ll have access to hundreds of cloud-enabled games or you can check out Fortnite You do not need a membership.
• If you are new to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, join or upgrade today for just $1, or you can sign up directly in the app.
• You can connect your Bluetooth-enabled Bluetooth controller like the DualSense controller, Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, Elite Series 2 Controller and the Xbox Wireless Controller. Play over 100 top-quality games from the cloud, including A Plague Tale: Innocence, Hades And Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction.

We’re super excited by what this next step means for all you gamers out there. With this rollout, we’re making it easier than ever to play games on the devices you already own. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate with a controller allows you to jump right into gaming, and also connect with friends on Xbox.
