Xbox Design Lab: Rubberized Grips And Metallic Finishes Return Alongside Three New Color Options

Xbox Design Labs’ customization options are now even more expansive. 

If you’ve toyed around with the idea of creating a new controller in the Xbox Design Lab but were waiting for some old features to return, now is your time. That’s because Xbox has brought back rubberized grips and metallic finishes. There are three new color options. 

“[We’re] excited to announce that rubberized grips and metallic finishes are returning to Xbox Design Lab with new color customization options, giving you even more combinations to choose from,” Xbox’s blog post about the announcement reads.

Here’s everything added to the lab today: 

  • Black rubberized gripsFor added control and comfort, the side grips and back cases can be used. 
  • Neunteen metallic finishes are now availableFor d-pads or triggers: Sterling Silver and Pewter Silver. 
  • Three brand new color options for controller parts:
    • Introduction Dragonfly Blue
    • Military Green was updated Nocturnal greenIt gives you a deeper earth tone
    • Electric Green has been upgraded to Velocity GreenThis is in keeping with the Xbox classic color
  • New “inspired by” controller designs from Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Battlefield 2042, Forza Horizon 5, and Riders Republic 

Xbox Design Lab Controllers starting at $69.99. Additional customization options, such as rubberized handles or grips, are available for additional cost. Xbox states that every controller is custom-made and will be delivered in three to four weeks.
