World of Warcraft’s Worldsoul Saga announced at BlizzCon 2023

World of WarcraftBlizzCon usually brings a brand new expansion to the table, but not this time. The recently returned Chris Metzen took to the stage to announce a whole “Worldsoul Saga,” which will play out over the next three expansions for the MMORPG. The three expansions for the MMORPG will take place over a period of time. The War Within, Midnight” Last Titan.

All three of these expansions will delve into parts of Azeroth that we’ve seen before, but which are changed by new events. The War WithinUnder Azeroth are caverns inhabited by Earthen, and spider-like Nerubian. Sargeras’ sword, which he plunged into Azeroth during the Events of Legion has sparked some kind of reaction, involving a mysterious voice (my money is on the worldsoul of the planet, considering the saga we’re dealing with here).

Second expansion: Midnight, and it’s about the Void rising up and entering a clash with the forces of the Light. It certainly looks like this will be an Old Gods-focused expansion, especially since we know that Xal’atath, a fan favorite character, is returning. Xal’atath first showed up in the plot as a particularly chatty knife, but she’s a power player on the cosmic scale, and she has been playing the heroes of Azeroth towards some unknown end.

Finally, Last TitanThis is the most recent expansion, and it does sound like it will have an apocalyptic premise. Metzen said that the Titans will finally be revealed in this new expansion, which is a giant Order aligned custodian who has been a god-like figure throughout the majority of World of Warcraft’s history. Interestingly, we know the Titans are sealed in with fan favorite character Illidan, so there’s plenty of room to speculate as to how the end of the Saga will play out.

For years Blizzard hypes a war between Void and Light. The two are the opposites of each other. They are also represented by more complex characters such as Alleria Windrunner and the shadow priests. The Light, on the other hand, is the patron saint of priests and paladins but has led to horrendous acts of extreme violence.

We’ll likely learn more about both sides of this upcoming cosmic war as we progress through the Worldsoul Saga. The level of preparation and the announcements are unprecedented. World of Warcraft but there’s still plenty of room for plot twists and surprises in the raids and dungeons along the way. The War WithinIn 2024 the new version will include new features, such as Delves, Warbands, dynamic fly for old mounts, new underground zones, and more.
