Wordle acquired by New York Times

Viral word game WordleThe New York Times now includes it. Wordle creator Josh Wardle announced Monday that the media company’s games section will take over the game. WordleIt will eventually be moved to the New York Times website, where it’ll remain free-to-play. Wardle said he’s trying to make sure players’ wins and win streaks move over to the new platform. “Since launching Wordle, I’ve been in awe of the response and the game has gotten bigger than I ever imagined,” Wardle wrote on Twitter. “On the flip side, it has been a little overwhelming. “I am only one person and that is what matters to me. Wordle grows, it continues to provide a great experience to everyone.”

The New York Times stated Wordle was purchased for “an undisclosed price in the low-seven figures.” Wordle has “millions” of players each day, the New York Times said.

WordleIt was launched last year but took off only around Christmas. This game requires you to correctly guess five letters. There are six chances to succeed. Every attempt will give you clues, such as if the letter is located in the right spot or not. In 2022 it’s absolutely everywhere, including Google. It is impossible to open Twitter and a group chat with out seeing the gray, yellow, or green block emojis. Knight has a point: Wordle’s simple mechanics and clear shareability make it a rare, small thing that’s just a pure delight. You get the same word daily, so posting your scores to social media is like sharing your secret.
