It’s a real sink-or-swim moment, and it’s SoIt is important to start the game early. You must also be able to communicate with the other players. ReallyComfortable with the combat system. Our Wo Long: Fallen DynastyZhiang Liang’s General of Man boss fight guide can help prepare you for the fight and walk you through each phase. (Yes, there’s a Second phase.)

Preparing for Zhiang Liang’s boss fight in Wo Lang

In the early hours of the morning, there is a first boss fight Wo long, so there’s not a ton you can do to prepare, but let’s talk about everything you can do that might help.

Pray, practice, practice

If you RestAnytime Battle Flag, you’ll get the option to Reisen. Much later in the game, this is how you’ll replay levels or take on side quests. Right now, it’s how you’ll go get some extra training.

Select Travel and use RB tab to Others. A card is a must. Basic Training. Choose that. Although you’ve already completed the tutorial, this session is very different. You’ll go through a longer and more detailed training session here. Attention is paid to the Deflect portion.

Don’t skip this step. Go do it. Repeat it two times. Do it again. It will work, we promise.

Move up

As you go through the tutorial, it is important to have sufficient information. Genuine Qi to level up a couple times at least (don’t forget to use any Genuine Qi Flakes or Fragments from your inventory). We recommend that you increase 1 level every in Water(Deflecting reduces Spirit consumption) FeuerMartial Arts have a higher Spirit Drain and Attacks have a greater Spirit Gain.

These will boost your health by some points and increase your Attack Bonuses when you use the default Ring Pommel Saber. (That’s our recommendation, but put your points into whatever Five Points Virtues you want to shape your character. The most important thing is to spend Qi on stats that will help you level up or increase.

Trim your equipment

You’re not going to have a vast inventory full of different weapons and armors at this point in the game, but you will have picked up a few things. You should check your inventory to see if there are any weapons that do more damage than you have, or any armor that provides better protection than the Nameless Warrior Garb that you started with.

Be aware of your surroundings Equipment weightYou should keep your armor below 25%. This is how heavy your armor is and, as a result, how fast your Spirit will drain while Dodging and Deflecting — you’re going to be doing a LotOf Dodging and Delving.

Slot Wizardry Spells

We’re not going to get into much detail here (the magic system is A Whole Thing, which you can read more about here). And besides, you’ll only have enough Qi and Levels to unlock one spell in each of the Five Phases. We can talk about what works and what doesn’t, though.

Offensive spells aren’t going to get you far — your spells at this point won’t do much damage and the fight against Zhang Liang is fast and unrelenting, so you’re not going to have a lot of time to stand back and fire off a few piddly spells. You should instead look into buff spells.

If you have two points in the Earth Five Phases Virtue, you’ll be able to cast Advanced DefenseYou can reduce the damage that you cause. You can grab two Water Points if you have more than one. Cloud StanceTo reduce your Spirit consumption while deflecting Two points are in Metal? Grab Repression Crush to slow down Zhang Liang’s Spirit recovery.

Learn the spirit gauge

Take a look at Wo long’s Spirit like a combination of mana and stamina. You’ll lose Spirit when you get hit or dodge, and you’ll spend Spirit to cast Wizardry Spells or perform Martial Arts. You’ll gain Spirit when you land regular melee attacks or when you successfully deflect an attack. Your character, as well as every enemy (including Zhang Liang), have Spirit Gauges.

When a Spirit Gauge is drained to its lower limit, that person (or demon) will be stunned for a few seconds, opening them up to a powerful attack — a Fatal Blow. It is your goal to stop it from happening to you and to ensure that it does not happen to someone else.

Hitting an enemy with certain attacks — Martial Arts, Wizardry Spells, Spirit Attacks (with Y/triangle), or deflections — also shrinks their Spirit gauge. It is much easier to drain their Spirit when they are hit with certain attacks, such as Martial Arts, Wizardry Spells, or Spirit Attacks (with Y/triangle), which in turn makes it more difficult for them.

It is likely to be discussed a lot when it comes down to Zhang Liang’s strategy.

Do not ignore your partner

Your blindfolded boy companion will be there to offer encouragement, advice, and occasionally do the most damage. Don’t think about him. He’ll only distract you.

More importantly, when you take too much damage, he’ll say, “You are hurt… Stay behind me” or “I shall protect you from further harm.” These are both lies. More accurately, they’re just dialogue. He will not protect or change your mind. He’s just saying things to make you feel better.

How to beat Zhang Liang boss fight — phase 1

When you first drop into Zhang Liang’s arena, he’ll do a big villain monologue — don’t worry, you’ll automatically skip it when you get killed and have to come back. When he’s done, he’ll raise up his great club and slam it down in front of him. This move is mostly for show, but if you sprint straight at him, you’ll get smacked.

You can instead, spend a few moments casting a buff spell and letting him visit you.

In the initial phase, your goal is to use the B/circle buttons to distract. Although you may need to do some damage, the main objective is to avoid being hit. You need to hit the button right before one of Zhang Liang’s attacks connect, like a parry in most other games. However, you’re not really penalized for (trying to) deflect multiple times in a row. It is important to practice to perfect your timing. However, you are allowed to push a bit if necessary. Worst case, you’ll just dodge instead.

We’re not going to break down his attacks here. Just know that he’s going to attack. He’ll attack you a lot. Non-stop. You need to concentrate on deflecting using B/circle to reduce his Spirit gauge. Every time you deflect successfully, it’ll shrink his gauge.

Once you feel more confident with your deflecting skills, mix in some Spirit Attacks and normal with X/square. They will continue to drain his already shrinking Spirit Gauge. You can see this in the GIF below — keep an eye on his Spirit Gauge below his health bar. Deflections reduce his gauge and his spirit drains as we hit them. When the shrinking part meets the draining part, that means he’s stunned.

This fight’s first phase is not about doing damage but more about getting the Spirit Gauge of your opponent shrunken so that you can strike him with a Fatal Blow. Do that two or three times, and you’ll have him.

Things get more interesting now.

How to beat Zhang Liang boss fight — phase 2

You only need to use half of his health to win this fight. That is the downside.

Phase 2 of Zhang Liang’s boss fight will see the biggest changes. He now has an enormous, Elixir-fueled monster arm. While this greatly increases his reach, you still have the ability to deflect most attacks. He’s also a bit more aggressive.

The adjustment you’ll have to make is deflecting multiple attacks in a row now. The video below shows us failing to accomplish this feat.

Zhang Liang may also be seen preparing for his most important event. Critical blow This phase. He’ll wind up his demon arm, then thrust it forward like a battering ram. This will temporarily cut his demon arm. His Spirit gauge will be dramatically reduced. It shouldn’t take too much to get him stunned for a Fatal Stab at that point.

However, he’ll grow it back not too long later.

He’s also got a few new attacks to watch out for.

This is the most irritating and annoying of all. EarthMagical attack based on the ground. He’ll swing his club around and plant it vertically into the ground in front of him. One second later, the rock line will be exploding along your ground. It’s possible to (mostly) deflect it, but we had a lot more luck just guarding with LB.

He also adds charging attack that may or may not be a Critical Blow (when he’s glowing red). He’ll swing his club around to his side like a lance and charge at you. Both guarding and deflecting work to deal with the non-Critical version, but you’ll have to deflect if he’s glowing.

Also, he has an accelerated flurry attack of Critical Blows. It’s a lot to handle, but he does it rarely. Guarding is the best option if he’s close, but if you can, try to deflect the third, biggest swing at the end to do a lot of damage to his Spirit Gauge.

When you finally get him down to about half health (or a little below), the Blindfolded Boy will call out to “unleash the power residing in the jade!” He’s telling you to The Divine Beast can be summoned. You’ll also see its icon fill up over on the right side of the screen, and you’ll get a helpful tooltip on the left side.

All that’s left is to hit Y+B/triangle+circle and bask in your victory.
