Wicked is now split into two movies

It’s almost like Twilight: Breaking Dawn, DuneAnd The Hunger Games: MockingjayThe future WickedNow, movie can be divided into two Wicked movies. Jon M. Chu, director posted an announcement on TwitterExplaining the reason behind his decision.

“As we prepared the production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of Wicked into a single film without doing some real damage to it,” he wrote in the full letter. The full letter is available for your records. WickedProductions on stage take around two hours and forty-five minutes.

The upcoming movie — well, Films now— star Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good Witch and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West. The creative vision of splitting the film into two separate parts is naturally a source for many questions.

What will they do with it? Are they going to incorporate elements of the books in the film version? You can add songs that are eligible for Oscar nominations. But most importantly — what will they name it? Here are some possible names that the Polygon staff have suggested. WickedYou could call it sequel. Jon M.
