Why We Need Another Uncharted Game
This headline was my idea before I even thought of what it would be called. ReallyWhat should it be? Since, let’s be real, I don’t know what else to say. You may recall the blockbuster franchise of gaming that everybody loves, and which has had a film adaptation. There should be more. This is a true “no-duh” situation. I’m not the first person to say they liked *good thing* and want another *good thing*. Maybe I should say something sensational. OK, I’ll be honest: Uncharted was an industry-changing series and a unique experience that spoke to me strongly. We deserved more.
Uncharted may not appeal to everybody, but that’s fair. Many people dismiss the series as lowbrow pop art. It doesn’t take too long to find critiques calling Uncharted underrated if you do a Google search. Naughty Dog’s blockbuster action movie has its flaws, but that is fair. The gunplay becomes repetitive. Because everything is the same color you can easily identify where you are going. This makes it a little easier for climbing. You’ll find more Hollywood glamour in the narrations than you would see in a Hollywood movie.
We’re done with that. Let’s now get to the point: Uncharted is absolutely the best. The Uncharted game is basically a popcorn movie in an interactive format. It’s easy to understand why they are so popular. It is not easy to make a game that appeals to many people and operates at a high standard. This makes the series even more appealing. Uncharted doesn’t have to be defended. If you don’t like it, that’s fine. You’ll be surprised at what I think.
Uncharted has characters. This is what I love about it the most. Fans will love any game that has a great story. Really The attraction of love can be overwhelming. Look at Mass Effect or Red Dead Redemption or Eidos-Montréal’s recent Guardians of the Galaxy, and you’ll discover the same thing. These narratives can seem very basic and repetitive if they are broken down into an ordered series of events. These games all share one thing in common. They are filled with incredibly well-rounded and interesting characters. We fall in love first with characters in video games.
Uncharted is home to some of the most memorable characters in business. Sully is the cigar-chomping, adventure-loving brat who I just want to have as my father. Chloe Frazer, the steely-eyed heroine who has flexible morals and was so convincing that she earned her title Your own spinoff adventure. Sam Drake, however, is an unworkable character. Three games passed without Nate ever mentioning his brother; this character shouldn’t have been out of place. Sam is an manipulative and lying thief. We love Sam.
Two of Uncharted’s most important characters, Nate and Elena, have yet to be discussed. We have Video Gameogeaphy podcastWe talk about how we appreciate the love between these characters. Elena is an uncharted TV reporter who meets us at the start of Uncharted. She’s involved in one of Nate’s Indiana Jonesesque adventures. It was a typical flavor-of the-week romance. Her relationship with Nate evolved as the series progressed. The two got married … and then separated. They were pulled back together by something.
Uncharted’s perspective on Nate/Elena’s relationship is something I appreciate. Naughty dog didn’t hesitate to face the difficulties of marriage or what it took to stay committed to another individual. The majority of gaming romance stories are over once the main characters have gotten together. Rarely do we get to witness what happens after the first love. True love is a long-lasting relationship that requires sacrifice and hard work. Actually, long-term commitment is more rewarding and fulfilling than young passions. Although long-term commitment can be challenging, it is also possible to have beautiful relationships.
My goal is not to sound like an elderly man waving his finger at the camera and asking, “When will your kids get married?” Every situation is unique. Uncharted’s characters and their stories are what I love. You will find far-fetched tales that are filled with real human moments. Although it is based upon the tropes of Indiana Jones, and other serials about adventure, the author has created its own version and managed to make something meaningful out of them.
That’s why I want another Uncharted game … well that and they’re fun.
