What exactly is a Negroni-sbagliato paired with Prosecco?

A Negroni is an Italian cocktail that you make with one part gin, one part red vermouth, and one part Campari, with an orange peel garnish if you’re feeling fancy. The Negroni sbagliato, which is an Italian word meaning “wrong” or “full of mistakes,” swaps the gin in the original recipe for sparkling wine, which is why D’Arcy explains they opt for prosecco.

I was forced to jump on board this immediately. This is also one of my favourite negronis, particularly if you like a stronger cocktail. Sbagliato means “broken” or “mistake” in Italian, and rumor has it this cocktail was made by accident when a bartender meant to make a regular negroni, but reached for prosecco instead of gin. Although I don’t know the exact process, I do love stories, particularly when they are based on happy accidents. The recipe is 1 oz Sweet Vermouth and 1 oz Campari. Top it with sparkling. Prosecco would be a good choice but you could use any brut. Your choice of a wedge or twist.
