Which Pokémon Scarlet/Violet starter is the best?
Pokémon Violet And Scarlet brings back the most important Pokémon question: Which starter should I pick? Between how adorable Sprigatito, Quaxly, and Fuecoco all are, it’s hard to make a call.
Our Pokémon VioletAnd Scarlet A starter guide will provide some information to assist you in making a decision.
Sprigatito This is what it means to be a grassAnd The dark-type Pokémon, Fuecoco It is FireAnd ghostType, and Quaxly You can become WaterAnd fighting– type. All three Pokémon gain this second typing when they evolve into their final form.

Scarlet And VioletJust like before, there are now gyms. Pokémon games, but it also has other “boss fights,” like leaders of Team Star and Herba Mystica-owning Titan Pokémon. That said, you’ll want a powerful variety of Pokémon to utilize type effectiveness to take down these fights. There is a gym, Team Star crew, and Titan Pokémon for each type, putting the starters on a pretty even playing field.
Statistically, Fuecoco’s fire-typing gives it some leverage, as it’s strong against four other types (bug, grass, ice, and steel), while both water- and grass-type moves are only strong against three types.
But, after all three starters have developed, the second type of their second kind changes it a bit.
- Sprigatito’s evolution, MeowscaradaFive strengths, including psychic, ghost, ground, water, and rock; eight weaknesses, such as bug, fairy, fighting fire, flying and poison. They also have a double weakness to bugs-types.
- Fuecoco’s evolution, SkeledirgeSix strengths, bug, grass, iron, steel, ghost and psychic will be available to you. Five weaknesses, dark, ghost and ground are also possible.
- Quaxly’s evolution, QuaquavalThe sexes will each have seven strengths: rock, fire, light, dark, ice and normal; and five weaknesses: fairy, flying, psychic, electrical and electric.
Of course, you should not be relying on solely your starter Pokémon to get through the game. You’ll have access to a huge variety of Pokémon in various typings very early in the game, so take all of these numbers with a grain of salt. You should be able to learn a lot of moves with your starters, if you want them to continue using them for the entire game.
At the end of the day, there is no “correct” starter Pokémon. Choose what you’d like. Did you find that statistically, grass types were always chosen in all of your games? Keep going! Do you love ducks? Quaxly is the obvious choice. They’re all good Pokémon, even if two of them turn into lanky bipedal guys.
