Which Elden Ring Class is Right for You?

Gamers around the globe will have their first taste of this weekend’s game on Saturday. Elden RingThe new action RPG is based on the ideas of George R.R., an acclaimed fantasy writer. Martin and FromSoftware’s visionary game designer Hidetaka Miyazaki. The Elden Ring Closed Network Test will let players explore Limgrave, a small part of the game’s expansive open world known as the Between Lands. As you play, you’ll do battle with everything from low-level enemies to powerful bosses, as well as get an idea of how combat and summoning work.

Many comparisons have been made since the announcement. Elden RingAnd the Dark SoulsThe series is based on the same formula, but there are many similarities. However, Stealth introduces some new mechanics. You can also learn elements such as crafting or horseback riding. There’s a lot to like and a lot to learn as you progress through the Closed Network Test, making choices along the way that will determine how you handle yourself.

Of course, one of the biggest choices you’ll need to make is what class you’ll use. However, Elden RingThere will be 10 available starting classes when the full game is released in February. In the Closed Network Test, five classes are available. It should be noted that, whatever class you pick, you won’t be locked into a particular playstyle. You’ll be able to change characteristics as you play, tweaking stats and weapons depending on the enemies you encounter and the environment you’re in.

Let’s take a closer look at the 5 classes in the Elden Ring Closed Network Test so you can get an idea of what each class offers and which one(s) you’ll want to use. I’ve listed them in the order that I most enjoyed using, but that’s obviously completely subjective!

The Enchanted Knight

What the Game Says About Them “These Knights have embraced the power of Glintstone, facing enemies in melee combat while simultaneously casting spells. They often seek out and destroy those who use magic for nefarious purposes.”

Beginning ItemsCarian Glintstone Shield and Carian Sorcerer Staff. Winged Spear.

Highest Attributes:Intelligence (16), Strength (15), Mind (12), Dexterity (12).

The Class for You:Anybody who enjoys playing with both a long-reaching staff and a spear, alternately thrusting melee-piercing strikes and powerful Sorcery attack. They’ve also got the only shield that mitigates 100% physical damage if you prefer to turtle up and go toe-to-toe with enemies.

This Class Should Be Avoided by Whom? Anyone who wants to try casting the game’s very powerful Incantations.

The Bloody Wolf

What the Game Says About Them “The Wolf is cunning, steadfast and deadly. These warriors have no fear and face down death with unmatched vigor and pride.”

Beginning Items Bastard Sword, Iron Roundshield

Highest Attributes:Vigor (14), Strength (16), Vigor (14) and Dexterity (12), Endurance (12).

The Class for You:People who like to block and slice and slash. This feels very much like the old Souls games. The Bloody Wolf has the strongest Strength rating and can do a lot of damage using a greatsword, while also taking a lot of damage from a shield. Their high Vigor allows them to take a few hits before they heal.

This Class Should Be Avoided by Whom? Anybody who likes to cast magic attacks, or move with melee attacks nimbly and stick.

The Prophet

What the Game Says About Them “Holy warriors equipped with the ability to use Incantations to face foes, or to protect allies. Faith is the weapon of the Prophet, and they wield it with prejudice.”

Beginning ItemsClub, Clawmark Seal Rickety Shield Heal, Incantation, Beast Claw

Highest Attributes:Mind (16), Faith (16), and Strength (12).

The Class for You:Incantations are for players who wish to heal and take down their enemies. The Closed Network Test gives them the ability to use Incantations. They are the only class that can do this (Beast Claw is one example). And having the best Mind allows them to cast them. a lot

This Class Should Be Avoided by Whom?Anyone who loves to hack, slash, and stabbing people to death.

The Champion

What the Game Says About Them “Equipped with a Sacred Seal and an Axe, the Champion can burn foes from a distance or take them head on in melee combat. They are ferocious fighters, who do not fear death.”

Beginning Items Battle Axe, Finger Seal, Red Thorn Roundshield, Dragonfire (Incantation)

Highest Attributes:Faith (15), Strength (14) Vigor (13), Endurance (12).

The Class for You:Anybody who is ready to fight the enemy with their powerful melee strikes. However, while The Champion’s high ratings in Strength, Vigor, and Endurance make it an obvious choice for murderous brawling, the high Faith score makes it the only other class that can cast Incantations. It is also able to destroy large parties of enemies distantly, making Dragonfire a very nasty class. A low Mind score means you won’t be able to cast it very often, though.

This Class Should Be Avoided by Whom? Sorcery or ranged arery are popular choices for players who like to use them.

The Warrior

What the Game Says About Them “The Warrior is a Dexterity based character that uses agile and acrobatic attacks to deal with enemies at close range. Equipped with a Buckler and Medium Armor, the warrior’s default skills allow for projectile-style sword storm attacks.”

Beginning ItemsTwo Scimitars, a Buckler

Highest Attributes:Vigor (12), Endurance (13) and Dexterity (15).

The Class for You:If you are looking for players who can quickly move and stick with melee attacks, (dodging without a shield is essential), or if you prefer to use a bow to perform ranged attacks, this will be your best option. Also, the Buckler shield is unique in that it allows foes to use very powerful stun attacks. This can be useful against bosses.

This Class Should Be Avoided by Whom?Everyone who is interested in using Sorcery.
