It can be difficult to locate diamonds in Tears of KingdomThere are ways to make sure you get a constant supply of diamonds. While we don’t have an intense “get 100 diamonds in 10 minutes” type of strategy, there are good ways to find the precious gemstones.

Whether it’s from completing shrines, feeding ominous creatures some rocks, or mining them yourself, we list out the various methods below for finding diamonds in Tears of Kingdom.

Ore Deposits for Diamonds

Ore deposits found in the caves around Hyrule can have diamonds in them — and if you’re looking to sell the diamonds for cash, you should be breaking all of these anyway, as the other precious gems dropped out of these deposits are still worth a good chunk of rupees. Note that diamonds don’t drop super frequently from ore deposits, but we have gotten a few on our journey from this.

There are tons of ore reserves in the Goron Caves on Death MountainYou can enter the cave that takes you to Hyrule Castle here: Enter the cave to get to Hyrule Castle by clicking here.

You want to be sure to break open all bottles. Mineral deposits with yellowish bumps, sparklesThese ones are dropping the rarer stuff like diamonds and sapphires. Between the regular deposit and the luminous gemstone, you’ll see an ore deposit that is rare.

Diamonds can be obtained by beating Talus bosses

When you beat a Talus (the huge rock golem boss enemies found around Hyrule), they’ll explode into a pile of gems after the battle.Diamonds are not always found in their droppings.. We’ve fought a variety of Talus during our playthrough, and we noticed diamonds dropping from various types of Talus, be it a fire Talus or regular ones.

We’re not entirely sure what the drop rate is on diamonds specifically, but if you’re hunting for diamonds and you see a Talus in your path, take it out.

Diamonds can be obtained from Dondons

You may not have known that there is a small group of animals with tusks to which you can give luminous stones and they will return rare ore? Yes, really! You can exchange luminous stones or rare ore for Dondons in exchange of your time and a dondon. It is confirmed that diamonds have been farted from the process. However, it appears to be rare.

In southern Akkala, near Lakeside Stable, there’s a dondon sanctuary. The campfire is located near the Joju-u-u Shrine. (It’ll be hard to see, but it’ll render in as you get closer.)

When you reach the Dondons:

  1. Drop one luminous stone before each of the dondons.
  2. Watch the Dondons as they eat the Stone.
  3. You should leave the area. (You can go do something else, but they won’t poop in front of you. They’re poop shy.)
  4. Bring yourself back in about 10 minutes.
  5. Gather your loot. (You can get flint and other less-rare rocks from them, so don’t be surprised if the dondon doesn’t gift you with riches right away.)
  6. You can repeat the process if you wish.

Our tests were not conclusive. If there is a better method to guaranteeing high-rarity ore from dondons, we’ll update this guide once we figure it out.
