Weekend Warrior – Fond Farewells On A Tarnished Weekend

This weekend is a bittersweet one as we’re saying “so long” to an institution of Game Informer. Today marks the last day at our publication for Online Content Director, Street Comedian, and Bizzare Detective Ben Reeves, and we’re going to miss him dearly. However this won’t be the last we’ll see of Ben in games, as he’s moving into another sector of the industry and becoming a Narrative Designer at Firaxis. While I know I am speaking for all staff, I can assure you that we will be missing Ben and love him. But, more important, we are excited to see how he performs at his new job. So while you’re letting us know in the comments what your plans are for the weekend, share your well-wishes and favorite Ben Reeves moments to send him off right!

Elden Ring has finally become available. If you’re not familiar with it, it is a fantastic weekend job! It’ll definitely be very popular with our readers and crew. We’ll see what the GI personnel does over the next 48 to 72 hours.

Ben Reeves – Well, since this is my last day at GI, I’ll just be packing my bags and trying not to cry. Elden Ring gives me something to be happy about. Horizon will probably have to keep waiting. Thank you to all who have read and viewed my content throughout the years. For a highlight reel, check out my recent Twitter thread.

Andrew Reiner – When I’m not doing social stuff, all of my time is going to Elden Ring. I’m five hours in and have been blown away by the amount of freedom offered. We are going to create a mystery murder puzzle together, and it sounds amazing, although we have no idea what to expect.

Jill Grodt – I’m sure I’m not the only one with these plans this weekend, but the next few days are all about Elden Ring. I can’t wait to ride my spirit steed through the Lands Between and see what an open-world Souls game feels like. I didn’t manage to make it to the end of Horizon Forbidden West or catch every monster in Pokémon Legends: Arceus like I was hoping, but at least I know I’ll have games to jump into if I need to release the mounting rage at not being able to beat a grueling boss.

Margaret Andrews – I’ll be continuing my journey to romance all the robot dinosaurs in Horizon Forbidden West. With one weekend under my belt it feels like I’ve barely scratched the surface of this massive game and I can’t wait to unlock more skills and find out why the west is, uh, forbidden? Kim and Kristin may be available if we manage to get our hands on us. I’m also hoping to finish my current read in time for the release of VE Schwab’s new book next week, Gallant.

Alex Van Aken – I will solely be playing Elden Ring this weekend. I’m 35 hours into the game and am still captivated. You can’t find anything else. Elden Ring forever.

Wesley LeBlanc – It’s Elden Ring all weekend, baby! To make the ultimate spellsword, I joined the Prisoner class. The amazing helmet made of metal is also a must-have. The Prisoner is a great foundation to play the role of a pirate, as it has a starting cutlass-like weapon which can be used to more like a fencing tool than a medieval sword. I could also mention some other plans I might have, like eating or finally watching Cuphead Show, but let’s be honest: this weekend is all Elden Ring. We’ll see you at Limgrave, ye Tarnished.

Dan Tack – Elden Ring.

John Carson –The Lands Between is officially my adventure! After spending seven hours streaming with my expert Souls guide, Dan Tack, I’m ready to set off on my own to take the struggles of Elden Ring head-on all weekend. I somehow managed to get some time this week to see the first half. Succession season one (I’m loving it so far), which I’ll be diving into more when I need a break from throwing myself at Elden bosses.

Brian Shea – I’m traveling this weekend, but I have my Switch with me. I’ve continued filling my Pokédex in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but I also started a new playthrough of Sonic Mania. Moncage, a perspective-puzzle game that I had downloaded on my smartphone, was finally installed.

Alex Stadnik – This weekend, games will honestly be more of an afterthought. To fully experience the Elden Ring glory, I will wait until next week when I return from vacation. Instead I plan to enjoy a bit of something that I love to call the written Word. Mary Project Hail MaryAndy Weir’s Sci-Fi novel, “The Last Man on Earth”, has been consuming a lot my time. The riveting story of an astronaut who attempts to save the world by himself is captivating, and I can’t get enough. The part that I have reached is the most exciting. [REDACTED]. The only thing I do outside of writing is reading. It’s Oscar season. It is my goal to make it out. Power of the DogAnd Keep your eyes upIt’s possible, but it is the best part of the weekend. Even if this doesn’t happen I feel like I have a wonderful two-day weekend with loved ones and friends.

Your turn now! You have a weekend planned. What are your plans for this weekend? Will you venture into Elden Ring’s dangerous open space, or will you continue to work on the notable February releases you have been enjoying so far? Please let us know what you think in the comments!
