Ubisoft Pulls Out Of E3 2023 To Host Separate Live Event
Ubisoft confirmed that it would not be present at E3 2023. According to a statement, Video Games ChronicleInstead, the publisher will host its own presentation in Los Angeles on 12 June.
According to the publisher, VGC reads “While we initially intended to have an official E3 presence, we’ve made the subsequent decision to move in a different direction, and will be holding a Ubisoft Forward Live event on 12th June in Los Angeles. We look forward to sharing more details with our players very soon.”
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated in February that the company would commit to attending “if E3 happens”. If that’s the case, this news certainly doesn’t bode well for the fate of what’s supposed to be E3’s big return.
As for what Ubisoft could show at its event, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, The Crew Motorfest, and (maybe) Skull and Bones are slated to release this year. Other announced projects include the long-quiet Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia remakes, a multitude of new Assassin’s Creed games, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Rumored sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising might also appear.
Ubisoft joins Nintendo on the list of major publishers that have declined to participate in this year’s show, following a previous report that Microsoft and Sony plan to follow suit. E3 this year will be organized mostly by ReedPop. It takes place in Los Angeles Convention Center, June 13-16. Fans and journalists will be able to attend the event, which has separate attendance days. The event will mark the beginning of 2019 as an in-person one.
