Twilight TV series is a reboot from Lionsgate
The latest book-series-turned-movie-franchise-in-the-2000s that just got a newly announced TV show is none other than the Twilight Saga. It’s only natural that Twilight would get the same treatment as the Percy Jackson Disney Plus series and the newly announced Harry Potter Series.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Twilight TV show is in very early development stages, to the point where it doesn’t have a network or even a writer yet. Lionsgate is looking for writers to fill the Twilight Saga. Stephenie Meyer, the author of the series, is expected to be involved in the show’s development.
The First Twilight The book, published in 2007, sparked a paranormal romance wave on the scene for young adults. The book followed Bella Swan who is a completely normal girl, but moves to Forks in Washington to meet the mysterious Edward Cullen who, turns out, is a vampire. Four books were turned into five movies, starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
It’s not surprising to see this news coming on the heels of Warner Media announcing a Harry Potter revival. Both franchises had massive fan bases in the heyday, and they often clashed despite having little in common. It was simply the fact that they were two very popular series that both appealed to young adults in roughly the same time period — and thus, the battle was born.
While popular appeal of Harry Potter has waned in light of author J.K. Rowling’s stances on trans people, support of TwilightThe vampire romance novel meme has risen in popularity, as many have reclaimed the books. TwilightThe film was criticized at the time, as well as in recent years, for the racist and sexist tropes it used in its storytelling. A lot of its newfound popularity is due to the fact that people are embracing the ridiculous story while dismantling the controversial parts.

But considering that there’s a prequel movie on the way later this year, it’s unlikely that anyone at Lionsgate would be looking to reboot that series for television.
Now that there are no further developments for Twilight, it’s time to start casting the fans! Timothee Chalamet, in my opinion, was born to portray someone who had died from Spanish flu in 1901.
