This Is My Last Week At Game Informer

This is something that I had never imagined: It’s my last day. Game Informer.

Since nearly thirty years ago, each day was a joy. I eagerly awaited the game news, articles, and, on the most wonderful days, my favorite games. Over the course of creating 330 monthly magazines I was fortunate to have worked alongside some the most brilliant and inspiring people I know. For a kid who couldn’t get enough of video games growing up, I was living a dream. It was a gift that I never considered a blessing. It was hard work. I was determined to achieve my goals. Game InformerTo celebrate all things games, this is the right place. That’s a feat we have accomplished tenfold. We created something truly unique.

In the weeks ahead, I’ll transition from writing game news to creating it. I’m entering the world of game development and publishing at a well-known North American studio. While I don’t know where I’m going, I promise you that I will soon reveal it. I’ve always wanted to create a video game. I am now able to learn about the world of development and can hopefully help in some way. I’m terrified of entering a new line of work, but I couldn’t be more excited as I’m about to live another dream. This one will be just as fulfilling as my writing career, and I’m hoping it lasts as long. Game Informer was.

Although I can be proud of my writing, I will remember those I met. A better group could not have been asked for. Our family was and will always be. As much as our lives, we shared games.

Game Informer will continue to be an incredible outlet for games, and I’m already seeing an exciting future unfold under the guidance of my friend Matt Miller (your new editor-in-chief). Game InformerThe collective joy of playing video games is unrivalled. This is one thing I’ll miss most when I leave. Everyone knows the reasons games are so special. Through our videos and writing, we celebrate them each day.

Millions of Game InformerThank you to all subscribers and readers for coming along on this journey with me. It was the best time of my entire life, writing and reflecting on games from yesteryear, as well as meeting people at trade fairs. To the game developers and publishers I worked with, I owe you just as big of a “thank you” for recognizing that Game Informer matters. An even bigger “thank you” is deserved for tolerating Andy McNamara and me in meetings. We were professionals; we just didn’t look or act the part.

This is not the end. Not even close. It will only be a slightly different “hello”, It’s still my desire to play games late at night and talk about them. My next chapter is almost here, and I cannot wait to read the next issue. Game InformerIn my mailbox.

You can keep gaming, everybody, and I will be your example for how dreams come true. It is possible to live the dream life you’ve always wanted if you are passionate about it. I’m living proof of that.

Many thanks for your help! Many thanks! Many thanks! We are grateful!!

All the best

Reiner
