The Matrix Awakens Will Be Delisted This Week

The Matrix: Unreal Engine 5 Experience is now available after a short seven-month wait. It will no longer be sold in digital console shops starting July 9.

The Matrix Awakens website states that those who have added the technology demo to their PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X library will be able launch the game and play with it after delisting. Here’s what the official site has to say on the matter:

Not explored The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience yet? There’s still time! The UE5 technology demo is only available in shops until July 9. Download it before that date and you’ll still be able to access the demo going forward—or re-download it if you’ve deleted it from your console.

The Matrix Awakens was first announced and made available on the same night during the 2021 Game Awards. The Unreal Engine 5-powered demonstration from Epic Games stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who introduces the impressive graphics engine and how close to real-life its visuals can look. The Awakens demo features an on-rails shootout with cars in a large city, which often appears to have been ripped straight from the screen. The demo then lets you roam the massive pre-populated city and change things like time of day or traffic congestion to flex what UE5 is capable of. It’s a terrific showcase for the future of games, so if you haven’t given it a download yet, you’ll want to check it out before the delisting on Saturday.

This episode of New Gameplay Today features us as we tour The Matrix Awakens.
