The Last of Us’ PC port bombs at launch, and PC gamers are fed up

Part I of “The Last of Us” The latest console-to PC port is a disaster. Users report multiple issues that slow down the game’s visual performance. TLOU creator Naughty Dog acknowledged the problems in a tweet on Tuesday and said developers are “prioritizing updates” to resolve the problems in the coming days.

It’s still a terrible look for a prestige franchise and studio. Part I of “The Last of Us” launched on Tuesday, capturing plenty of interest following the conclusion of HBO’s nine-episode adaptation, which aired March 12. Players reported issues with Part I of “The Last of Us” They can experience everything from crashes to desktops that strain their CPUs to crashes to desktops, freezing, or even bizarre cinematics, where characters become soaked without any reason.

Part I of “The Last of Us” currently has a “mostly negative” reputation from more than 6,500 users on Steam, and it’s not something that can be waved off as the usual review-bomb complaining. Digital Foundry in January predicted everything, noting the long waits gamers face while their CPUs compile shaders to titles like Uncharted: The Legacy of Thieves Collection — Iron Galaxy, who is also responsible for this Naughty Dog joint, has another one. TLOU Part I’s disaster (and whose free-to-play battle royale Rumbleverse It was not even one year since its launch, but it was abruptly canceled in January.

Wild HeartsThe Monster Hunter-like Electronic Arts and Koei Tecmo Monster Hunter landed on PC in February with a meaty thud. Elden Ring had problems affecting “all hardware configurations on all graphical settings presets” when it launched on PC (alongside its console release) in February 2022.

Bottom line, after two years of this, PC gamers have subterranean expectations of games that have also had splashy console releases, and I can’t really blame them. The PC launch of Marvel’s Spider-ManIn August 2022, or God of War These are the notable exceptions. It will take a lot more than post-launch support and promises of fixes to repair trust among video gaming’s most demanding audience.
