The Callisto Protocol’s Gritty Gameplay Trailer Premiers At Gamescom 2022

A few months ago, the Callisto Protocol was featured on the cover of Gamescom magazine. This is the game that we are most excited about for the coming year. Glen Schofield was Gamescom 2022’s creative director for the space horror game and one of the most prominent designers of Dead Space. He thanked fans for the positive response and spoke about the gritty new gameplay trailer, “We’re gonna show combat and something new with a crazy ending.”

Jacob Lee, the protagonist pulls out a health item using one of his talents and begins to crawl-sneak through a bunch of prowling beasts. With a quick stab to his back, he takes out one of the creatures and then fires at another. The tentacles around its belly make it stumble toward Lee. He then brawls against a regenerating animal adorned with cysts, and launches it into an environment-like chainsaw.

Next, Lee is seen sliding down the sewage drain and avoiding deadly pillars that line the channel. And in a shocking ending, reminiscent of the death scenes from Dead Space, the leading man hits a massive propeller obstructing the tunnel and gets ripped in half (I’ll spare you the gory details). Schofield warned the trailer’s ending would be wild, and it did not disappoint.

Callisto Protocol is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S (PS5), PlayStation 4, Xbox One (PC) and PlayStation 5.
