The Callisto Protocol Gets Gritty New Gameplay Trailer At Gamescom 2022
Our magazine cover featured The Callisto Protocol a few months back. It is one of the most highly anticipated games this year. Glen Schofield was Gamescom 2022’s creative director for the space horror game and one of the most prominent designers of Dead Space. He thanked fans for the positive response and spoke about the gritty new gameplay trailer, “We’re gonna show combat and something new with a crazy ending.”
Jacob Lee is the antagonist. He pulls one of his health items and starts to maneuver through a group prowling monsters. One of them is taken down with a kick to the stomach. He then attacks another one, walking towards him with his tentacles and squirming about its belly. The best part is that he fights with another regenerating creature, which has cysts. He sends it flying in a chainsaw-like structure.
The next scene shows Lee sliding down a sewer drain, while avoiding dangerous pillars on the dimly lit channel. And in a shocking ending, reminiscent of the death scenes from Dead Space, the leading man hits a massive propeller obstructing the tunnel and gets ripped in half (I’ll spare you the gory details). Schofield warned the trailer’s ending would be wild, and it did not disappoint.
Callisto Protocol is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S (PS5), PlayStation 4, Xbox One (PC) and PlayStation 5.
