The best SDCC 2022 trailers
San Diego Comic-Con returned in force this year, with exciting announcements about Dungeons & Dragons, Marvel, DC and every franchise in between. The in-person panels have been packed with news, tearful reunions — and farewells — and oh so many trailers. Luckily, you don’t have be seated at Hall H to get your first looks The Lord of the Rings – The Rings of Power Oder I Am Groot — Polygon has put together a running list of the most eye-opening trailers from SDCC 2022, which we’ll be updating throughout the weekend.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Comic-Con is always a weekend filled with big news and unexpected announcements, but perhaps one of the happier surprises to come out of the event is how great the upcoming D&D movie looks. This is the first trailer. Honor among Thieves is packed with everything that we love about Dungeons & Dragons Chris “The Best Chris” Pine.
The Lord of the Rings – The Rings of Power
Amazon’s more positive view of us, the better Rings of Power, the more excited we’re getting for the Lord of the Rings prequel series. We get a new trailer that gives us a great look at Middle-earth’s Second Age. The show also shows the location of the humans, elves and dwarves. We may also have our first glimpse of Sauron in the trailer.
The Walking Dead
The Walking DeadAfter 11 seasons of bloody episodes, the series is ending with a return in October. Ahead of the show’s final eight episodes, AMC released a new trailer that sets up what’s to come — and it’s not looking too great for our heroes. Were we to have expected anything else?
Tales of the Walking Dead
Tales of the Walking Dead This is the third series of zombie dramas, however it’s the first to embrace anthology storytelling. The AMC series will feature a story that is essentially a separate tale, with a focus on characters new to the show. Based on the trailer Tales of the Walking Dead is embracing the freedom of the format, giving us tones and tales we haven’t seen in this universe before.
I Am Groot
Disney Plus has the latest Marvel series. I Am Groot Follow Baby Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel once more as he embarks on adorable adventures across a planet full of even smaller creatures. The first full trailer shows Baby Groot embracing his awesomeness, and while there’s no sign of Rocket Raccoon, the fact that Bradley Cooper is reprising the role means we can expect a family reunion when this five-short series debuts in August.
Teen Wolf: The Movie
One of the highlights from SDCC 2022 is the Teen Wolf: The Movie The trailer brought fans to Beacon Hills, where there was so much flesh-and blood slaying and otherworldly fighting. Scott McCall is back (Tyler Posey) but what’s really surprising is Allison Argent’s dramatic death in Season 3. Panelists Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis said the movie would provide an “emotional ending” to his supernatural drama.
National Treasure: Edge of History
Wait! National Treasure is over — but instead of a third film starring Nicolas Cage, producer Jerry Bruckheimer is pivoting to the small screen with Edge of History, a more “youthful” take on the franchise. This is the first teaser of the series. It features 10 episodes.
The Dragon Prince
After a three-year absence, Netflix’s The Dragon PrinceThe trailer for season 4 was a captivating first glimpse. The trailer does not show a lot of footage. Instead, it shows what appears to be the beginning scenes for the fourth season.
