Super Mario Bros. Movie clip debuts warp pipes at the Game Awards 2022
There may be no greater challenge to nostalgic gamer brain than Nintendo’s and Illumination Entertainment’s Super Mario Bros. Movie. 40 years of hard work and calcifying opinions about how the plumber mascot should look, sound, and behave will finally end. When the movie hits theaters next April, all of your preconceived ideas will vanish. Here’s a clip from Chris Pratt animated film.
The video, which was shown at The Game Awards 2022 premiered, features Toad (Kegan-Michael Key), who introduces Mario to all the details of The Magic Kingdom. The two of them walk through bustling Toad villages (complete with hat shops) Super Mario OdysseyZip up to an elevator platform and jump over some floating bricks before jumping into a warppipe in game style. This is clearly Mario’s first ride as he’s not from around these parts, and as Toad mentions, there’s little time for sightseeing because his brother Luigi “is going to die imminently.” But it doesn’t go very well! Pratt has a chance to watch Mario crash into the walls of the pipes. OofAnd “Aaahhhh!”And guuhhhhh In his new Mario voice.
Which… I guess it’s Italian New York? This clip has some Ratso Rizzo energy.
