Street Fighter 6’s AKI gets a release date, slithery new gameplay

The Street Fighter series, which has been around for 35 years now, is not short of strange characters. There’s a Brazilian savage with green skin; a yogi that breathes fire and a semi-solid white milky shapeshifter named Dan. AKI is a poison-aficionado, who snakes like a snake, and like Juri – is that kind of sociopath which you immediately fall in love with.

AKI, who will be joining the ranks of Necro and Oro as well as Twelve, Hakan FANG, Abigail Dhalsim Abigail Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalidhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalisim Dhalsim Dhalsim Dhalsim Street Fighter 6Lineup on September 27. She’s the fighting game’s second DLC fighter (after Rashid) and the 20th world warrior on the SF6 roster. She’s also comfortably within the top 10 Street Fighter weirdos of all time.

She debuted with her FANG master in Street Fighter 5, she’s all about poison — the toxic substance, not the Final Fight character. AKI’s moveset is more serpentine, but she still has a unique style. She constricts and poisons her opponents, stabbing them with speedy kicks and extended claws. Her Sinister Slide allows her to slither on the ground. You can see it in action by watching the GIF.

Here’s her moveset breakdown, courtesy of Capcom:

Serpent Lash A.K.I. From a distance, A.K.I. sends her nail forward in a chain-like motion to poison enemies that she strikes. Toxic blossoms explode when they strike an already-poisoned opponent.

Nightshade Pulse – A.K.I. Sends forward a bubble that poisons any enemies hit by it. Nightshade Chaser allows her to hit the bubble and pop it, thereby increasing its range of action.

Orchid spring – A.K.I. She places a pool of poison before her, which is harmful to anyone that steps into it.

Sinister Slide The player must slither on the screen in order to avoid any threats. They can also perform follow up moves such as Venomous Fang or Heel Strike.

Claws Of Ya Zi – A.K.I.’s Level 3 Super Art pierces various pressure points on an opponent’s body and injects a poison that dangerously detonates from within.

There are two more DLC fighters confirmed Street Fighter 6’s premium Year 1 Character Pass. Ed and Akuma are expected to be released as part the $29.99 Add-On after Rashid, AKI and other characters.
