Star Wars’ Obi-Wan Kenobi series release date and new poster

Star Wars’ latest spinoff series, Boba Fett’s Book, wrapped up on Feb. 9, but fans won’t have to wait long for the next one. Star Wars: Obi-Wan KenobiDisney Plus’ May 25th premiere will be on Disney Plus, Disney said during an investor call Wednesday.

The six-episode opening season will follow one of Star Wars’ most important Jedi in his days after the fall of the Galactic Republic and during the rise of the Empire. Obi-WanAs with many Star Wars series, the show will be held on Tatooine. But it’s likely that there will also be a couple of other places as the Jedi alternates between fighting the Empire and taking care of a young Luke Skywalker.

Ewan McGregor is Obi Wan’s character in this series. Joel Edgerton will play Owen Lars once more, while Hayden Christensen returns to Anakin Skywalker. Obi Wan Kenobi will also introduce new actors to the Star Wars universe, including Kumail Nanjiani, Benny Safdie, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, and Maya Erskine.

Beginning May 25, Disney Plus will air the series weekly.
