Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic PS5 remake gets new developer

Saber Interactive has taken over Aspyr Media’s position. Star Wars: Knights and the Old RepublicAccording to Bloomberg reports, it is. In its last week’s financial earnings report, Embracer Group (which owns the studios) hinted that it was considering a change to another developer.

“One of the Group’s AAA projects has transitioned to another studio within the Group,” it wrote. “This was done to ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title. We are not expecting any material delays for the title based on this transition.”

Bloomberg reported July this: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was “delayed indefinitely” after two directors were fired. Aspyr had previously been credited as having assisted Saber Interactive with Star Wars development.

Polygon has yet to receive a response from Embracer regarding its request for comments on the studio moveover.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake was announced last year, after Embracer Group announced months earlier that it had acquired the remake’s original developer for $100 million. Embracer is also the owner of Saber Interactive which it purchased in 2020 for $150million. Saber Interactive has a few core studios across Europe. Embracer has acquired studios rapidly over the years. Most recently Embracer bought Limited Run Games and Tripwire Interactive. Singtrix was also purchased by Embracer. The company also said it was acquiring a number of studios that day. AlsoJ.R.R. purchased the rights for games and movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings The Hobbit.
