Sony Reveals Inscryption, Sea of Stars, And Other Indies Heading To PlayStation

The PlayStation Twitter account posted a small batch of announcements highlighting upcoming indie games headed to PlayStation. Cult of the Lamb’s August 11 release has been confirmed. However, there were a few notable reveals and updates that should get indie gamers on PlayStation excited about the future. Here’s a quick rundown of the games making their way to PS5 and PS4.

Encryption

The first console release of one of the most exciting and surprising games in 2021 is made. PS5/PS4 versions of this horror deck-builder feature exclusive features such as audio from the Stoat card through your controller speakers, tactile feedback support and lighting effects that are “spill out” from the controller according to creator Daniel Mullens. Although we aren’t sure exactly what it means, Inscryption is something that should be enjoyed by all who missed the PC version last year. Unfortunately, the PS port has no release window, but here’s hoping it arrives later this year.

Sea of Stars

Sabotages, a tribute to JRPGs of the past was delayed until 2023. But now it is coming to PlayStation consoles as well. Sea of Stars predates Sabotage’s original title, The Messenger. It features two heroes fighting against an alchemist with the power of sun and moon. PlayStation Blog posts revealed more details on the game’s turn-based combat including timed hits and combo moves as well as hot-swapping of party members.

The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition

Q-Games revealed plans last November to revive the defunct multiplayer title The Tomorrow Children. The Phoenix Editon is the name of this comeback and will be available on PS5/PS4 starting September 6. This game, called the Phoenix Editon in 2016 is an interactive building sim that allows players to work in teams and build islands. Phoenix Edition features more islands, a grappling hook for quickly scaling structures and an offline single player mode.

Schim

We were impressed by Schim when it was played during Summer Game Fest Play Days. Sony also announced a 2023 release window for its PlayStation launch. Unique puzzle platformer that challenges you to navigate shadows and become a strange, frog-like creature. To explore the Dutch-inspired cities, you need to plan your route. We look forward to exploring the city on PlayStation consoles or other platforms, with its charming art direction.

The Cursed Golf

Side-scrolling side-scrolling adventure that combines golf and the supernatural. You control a golfer who is trying to escape purgatory. We now know the arrival date for this game, which will be August 18. In this New Gameplay Today episode, you can see us playing Cursed to Golf.

Signalis

Signalis’ retro-inspired horror thriller is set to release on the PlayStation 4 and other devices in October. An engineer is the player’s character. Her spaceship crashes on an icy world. She is without her only crewmate, so she must search a dark government facility to find her and fight terrifying creatures. Signalis is a sci-fi horror movie that mixes cosmic terrors with scary science fiction.
