Sniper Elite 5 preview: Cult hit highlights the best things fans love

In a dream, Sniper Elite visited me for the first time. Seriously. In the summer of 2014, my subconscious was rinsing out whatever I’d read on the internet that day, and I woke up with a compulsion I have never felt before. My compulsion to buy would be like Richard Dreyfus’s mountain made of mashed potatoes. Sniper Elite 3.

After getting into a fight with the unexpectedly persistent patrol at a rural church on the westmost path, my efforts were halted. I chose to continue and choose the eastern approach to Castle, even though intel indicated it was less heavily protected. I was able to gain more cover and improve my position by going the eastern approach.

This also unlocks the new infiltration points, the stables near the western gate. If I want to return and clear any unclaimed unlockables, or miss objectives, it will allow me to access the stables. Sniper Elite 5 The new entries will also be more interested in weapon customization than their predecessors, and workbenches that are located at the right places for players to adjust weapons to their preferences will help them do so.

I didn’t see much of this in my playthrough, focused as I was on reaching the main objective without drawing a hornet’s nest of Nazis down on me. But a preview briefing from Rebellion Entertainment assured us that players can tune their loadouts to support their play style, from pure stealth, to speed, to “control” (meaning using long range shots to move the enemy AI), and then just straight up power, getting inside an enemy position and using the full magazine of a submachine gun to take everyone out.

This game will take players on a journey through a beautifully illustrated world. It is animated at 60 frames per seconds, which makes it even more enjoyable, even if some dialogue cuts seem robotic and outdated.
