It was my dream to make games and I nurtured an ambitious project. To learn about all the aspects of game creation and design, I had to start with smaller experiences. That’s how I began working on SkautfoldA series that uses multiple genres and focuses on characters.

Skautfold: UsurperIt takes place within an alternate historical setting, where the British empire and the Dawn empire rule most of the globe. Lovecraftian influences are active in the setting and they have altered historical events ever since 1000 AD. The game begins with a massive alien structure landing in London. Lovecraftian monsters start to appear. The story begins after a brief clash.

In order for Skautfold: UsurperTo make it stand out from the crowd, I designed its own guard system. This system combines a shield with stamina, which creates a new rhythm in combat. It also increases the focus on both risk and reward. It wants you to get in the enemy’s face and take risks and circumvent relying on heals as many games do. It regenerates passively so it’s all about learning a nice rhythm to being offensive and defensive.

The guard system is a very forgiving one. This will allow them to have more fun and save many lives. The atmosphere, and the creature designs are worth noting because they can surprise you at times.

Players shouldn’t worry about not having played Skautfold: A Shroud of SanityJump into the pool of Usurper. The game tells a different story, even though several characters appear from the original game. Usurper‘s plot contains several important setups and hints at things to come not just for the rest of SkautfoldBut its sequel series GranserLikewise. Users can find some of these hints just by exploring the map.
