Redfall: Microsoft Canceled PS5 Version After Bethesda Acquisition, Arkane Director Says

Arkane was developing a PlayStation 5 version of its upcoming first-person vampire shooter, Redfall, before Microsoft acquired Bethesda in 2020. Arkane’s Harvey Smith, Arkane’s director, said that the PS5 game of Redfall was cancelled by Microsoft after the acquisition. IGN FranceTranslated by IGN). 

Talking about this with IGN FranceSmith claimed that Microsoft bought Smith and it was a major seachange. They responded, “No PlayStation 5!” They said, “No PlayStation 5.” Now they’re going to do Game Pass on Xbox, Xbox, and PC.

Smith stated that Arkane did not mind this decision even though Redfall had been originally intended to be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox and PC. 

Smith stated, “Get support from Game Pass so you don’t have to think about one more platform or one more complexity.” IGN France.Game Pass allows you to play with a huge number of other people. Because of our 30 million Game Pass holders, it could become the most popular game in history. [members]Or any other number you choose.” 

Redfall’s PS5 version has been canceled. This isn’t a surprising news. Redfall was announced as an Xbox exclusive during the Bethesda E3 2021 showcase. Redfall was made an Xbox exclusive by Microsoft after the acquisition of Bethesda. This is not uncommon for console companies such as Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox. 

Redfall launches Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One on May 2nd.
