PSVR2 headset design reveal resembles PS5, has a vent
Sony revealed the new design of its PlayStation VR2 headset and updated designs for PSVR2 Sense controllers.
Hideki Nishino, the senior vice president of platform experience, noted in a blog that the new, smooth-curved white-on-black design was slimmer than the existing PlayStation VR model.
Nishino also sent Yujin, senior art director Yujin Morizawa a note. He revealed that he had incorporated a cooling vent to the design. It should reduce the risk of the lenses fogging.

These final Sense controllers look similar to those shown in the last year prototypes. The headset links the controller’s visual identity to the DualSense controller, PS5 console, and white-on-black headset. The circular “orb” motif in the design of the controllers and headset is meant to evoke the 360-degree view that players experience in virtual reality.
It’s not a complete overhaul: the headset shares its single, simple adjustable headband with the original PSVR, as well as the adjustable scope. There’s a new adjustment dial to help users match the lens distance between their eyes, as well as that all-important vent. Some surfaces have thousands of miniature PlayStation symbols, just like the PS5 model.
PSVR2 is an eye-tracking system that tracks inside of the camera (so you don’t need a PlayStation Camera), and provides tactile feedback. There are also 4K HDR displays with resolutions up to 2000×2040 per eyes. The PSVR2 has a single cord which connects to your PS5 console. One game has been announced for PSVR2. Horizon Call of the Mountain, a VR extension of Guerrilla Games’ adventure series. There’s no release date yet for PSVR2.
