The Gathering: Magic and the Gathering Its horror-themed double-feature is completed with Innistrad: Crimson VowThe digital edition of the book, ‘The Last Word in Gaming’ will arrive on November 11, and retail stores will receive it on November 19. Polygon shares a brand new card and stunning, high resolution artwork. It’s likely to be a favorite of anyone putting vampires onto the battlefield.

The heart of Crimson VowThe wedding of Edgar Markov to Olivia Voldaren will take place. Somehow she’s ensorcelled the plane’s original vampire, and their union could upset the balance of power for all time. Crashing the party — or at least a deck of cards near you — will be none other than Odric, Blood-Cursed. This legendary monster and vampire soldier used to be a human warrior protecting the Innistrad people. But now he’s cursed, and it’s never been made clear exactly how.

Fans last saw Odric when he helped to free Thalia, Guardian of Thraben from prison where she was held by forces of the Lunarch Inquisition. James Wyatt, Wizards of the Coast’s writer, wrote this short story.

Odric strides out of the frame amidst a cloud of rose petals, his sword drawn. “When Odric, Blood-Cursed enters the battlefield, create X Blood tokens, where X is the number of abilities from among flying, first strike, double strike, deathtouch, haste, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, reach, trample, and vigilance found among creatrues you control. (Count each ability only once.)

Odric is sure to add excitement to any deck thanks to his unique ability to produce blood tokens. They act in a similar way to food tokens and treasure from previous sets, with an additional twist. Numerous cards are in Crimson VowUse blood tokens to enhance their ability, such as transitioning from day to night on certain double-sided cards. Like all vampires in this set, Odric is also available in a more rare “fang” framed treatment — a special border that shows off his vampiric bite.

Chris Rallis is handling Art for Odric, and Anna Pavleeva was responsible for the fang version.
