Pokémon Go ‘Festival of Lights’ event guide, research tasks and rewards

Pokémon Go’s Festival of Lights is an event focused on electric- and fire-type Pokémon running between November 7th and 12th.

The event’s headline is Tadbulb launches its first version and evolution Bellibolt, which were first introduced in Gen 9’s Paldea region. Meanwhile, Morelull is a shiny metalFor the first time.

As well as Field and Timed Research quests to complete, a new feature is certain Pokémon will glow in the wild during the night for the duration of the event.

Before the end of the event, you must complete these steps:

  • Catch 30 Electric-type Pokémon (Hisuian Voltorb encounter)
  • Catch 30 fire-type Pokemon
  • Tadbulb Experience – Explore 5 Km
  • Use Incense to Confront the Morelull
  • Catch 15 different species of Pokémon (Magmar encounter)
  • Hatch 4 Eggs (Dedenne encounter)

You will encounter the following Field Research from spinning PokéStops. Even though they’re only collectible during event hours you can still complete the quests after the event has ended.

  • Catch 5 Pokémon (5 Poké Balls, 3 Ultra Balls, 3 Razz Berries, or 2 Pinap Berries)
  • Two Eggs Hatched (Tadbulb encounter)
  • Give a gift with Stickers (Darumaka encounter)
  • PokeStops, Gyms and 10 PokeStops.Tadbulb encounter or Morelull encounter
  • Take a 1km walk (Morelull encounter)

Pokémon Go “Festival of Lights” boosted Incense encounters

Activating an Incense during the “Festival of Lights” event will see the following Pokémon spawns boosted. The event will spawn a ‘double Incense Duration,’ giving you an extra chance to see the following Pokemon:

  • Alolan Geodude
  • Blitzle
  • Dedenne
  • Hisuian Voltorb
  • Illumise
  • Litleo
  • Litwick
  • Morelull
  • Slugma
  • Tadbulb
  • Volbeat

Pokémon Go “Festival of Lights” Egg hatch changes

The following Pokémon will hatch from 7km Eggs. Despite the fact that they cannot be collected outside of event hours, it is possible to hatch them anytime after an event has ended.

  • Dedenne
  • Elekid
  • Magby
  • Morelull

Pokémon Go ‘Festival of Lights’ times, dates and event bonuses

The “Festival of Lights” runs between The dates are: Tuesday, November 7, 10 am local time, and Sunday, 11/12, 8 pm local time,

In addition to the changes above regarding spawns, Field Research and bonuses until the end of the event:

  • Certain Pokémon glow in the wild during night-time
  • When hatching eggs, you will receive double candy and stardust
  • Double Incense Length (excludes Daily Adventure Incense).
  • PokéStop Showcases for Litwick and Tadbulb
  • Players in India will be able to enjoy double-catch Candy and the Collection Challenge, which includes Stardust rewards, XP and Tadbulb encounters.

Finally, know that “Festival of Lights” overlaps with a Chinchou Spotlight Hour on Tuesday, Nov. 7, and Garchomp Raid Day on Saturday, Nov. 11, which will see the debut of Mega Garchomp.
