PlayStation’s Recent Investment Into From Software Might Include TV And Movie Opportunities

Sony may be open to producing television programs and movies based on From Software.

The news is brought to you by a brand new interview. ReutersHermen Hulst is the PlayStation Studios chief. Hulst discusses PlayStation’s recent investments in its mobile and PC efforts, and its latest investment in Elden Ring developer From Software. Hulst said that “further investments into areas that will strengthen expansion on the PC, onto mobile, and into life services” are definitely possible for PlayStation.

Hulst’s response to a question about Sony’s investment is perhaps more fascinating for From Software enthusiasts.

He said, “You need to think about collaborations in the game-development side first and foremost. But it’s not impossible with our PlayStation Productions efforts that you explore possibilities.”

Sony owns 14.09% of From Software but that isn’t enough to be able to make independent decisions. Tencent bought 16.25% around the same time Sony purchased. While PlayStation Productions may be interested in making a Bloodborne movie about Jar Bairn or an Elden Ring TV show about Jar Bairn one day, From Software would need to approve the other investors. Let’s hope, however, that From Software’s properties (e.g. Bloodborne, Elden Ring or Dark Souls) are ripe to be adapted on screen.

You can read more about Bloober Team and how they are adapting a television series. Then, you will read how Sony plans to develop screen adaptations for God of War and Gran Turismo.
