PlayStation’s Bend Studio Still Working On New IP, Introduces New Logo
We haven’t seen much of a handful of PlayStation studios in quite some time. One such is Bend Studio, which was founded by Days Gone. That changes today with a blog post detailing the history of Bend Studio and giving a tiny hint at what the team is up to with its next project.
The post details the games Bend had developed in its nearly 30-year history, from the first days of the studio when it was known as Blank, Berlyn and Co., through the time it was known as Eidetic when it developed Bubsy 3D, the Syphon Filter series, and beyond. There’s a lot of great history about the studio packed in there alongside concept art and more. Bend Studio will now take a break form any franchises or series it has worked on.
“We’re currently developing a brand new IP, which will include multiplayer. This builds upon Days Gone’s open-world systems and brings you an entirely new world. We are so excited to create it for you. Bend Studio’s Kevin McAllister writes that we cannot wait for you to see it when the right time comes.
This is the second time Bend has mentioned its new project, with the first word coming from a tweet last year. Although the game’s next release will not be Days Gone 2 nor Syphon Filter 2, it looks like the studio is learning and improving on the previous games. Additionally, whether this new IP will be part of Sony’s new initiative to develop more live service games remains to be seen.
Bend Studio took this opportunity to unveil a brand new logo on their blog. You can view it above. Since it is modular and adaptable to different styles for different events, the logo treatment represents a refreshing change from its previous designs.
