Play as murderous RPG slime in wild new action game
This isn’t your average slime enemy. Asher Zhu or Vuthric on TwitterThis is a game in which you are a slime for the entire game. Now, instead of fighting slimes as a hero, you can finally learn what it’s like to occupy a brainless blob of goo.
Slime is more common than ever Cool WIP, Polygon’s weekly roundup of eye-catching clips and screenshots of works in progress. The Polygon team searches the web for interesting new games every week to bring you an overview of some of the most exciting projects.
Here’s this week’s list: toxic goop, normal goo and toxic goop. Also, a virtual Moog created by a Twitter developer to design a new game. And, a small town populated with adorable dinosaurs.
Goo week baby
Asher Zhu’s SlimeEverything I desire and more. I am a recent clipYou can clearly see how violent and goopy the goo can get. We see one instance where the goo absorbed an entire person and dragged it around. It’s a far cry from all the slime that I’ve beaten up in various RPGs. The slime creatures had to rise up and defend themselves. You can read more about Zhu’s process for making this game. out his TwitterAccount or Website
Method to clean up the environment
Jarl Larsson from Jarl Development showed us how their slime brings oozing, gross goo to live. In a clipThe character will first set the radius for the goop before spreading it out over a natural setting. We first see it from the developer’s top-down perspective, and then the video shows the character in-game vacuuming it all up. It looks gross, but you can catch more of the developer’s work on their Twitter page.
A stunning digital Moog
Daniel W. is an artist who specializes in the environment. He created this incredible recreation of a Moog Synthesizer in Unreal Engine. A clip of itIt is amazing how intricate the work looks. Even the nobs have fine labels and tiny ticks. It’s a loving recreation, and a fun one for music fans to pick apart.
Followers offer suggestions to a developer
Developer Kmitt “hit a creative wall” when designing a new building, so they reached out for ideas on Twitter. The developer added features such as bridges and waterfalls to the design after receiving suggestions from users. Above, you can view the results. It’s a unique example of people participating in game development, and you can follow the rest of Kmitt’s work on their Twitter account.
The most adorable little dinos you’ve ever seen
Dinosaurs are my favorite animal, and I don’t just love them when they appear in chicken nuggets. Amber IsleIt’s a simulator that simulates a village and shop in an imaginary world of dinosaur villagers. It’s a neat concept, especially as we only get to see dinosaurs as fossils in beloved series like Animal Crossing. Developer Ambertail Games posted a clip with two of the game’s characters, and I can’t help but gush over them. Amber Isle doesn’t have a release window yet, but you can check out more information on the developer’s Twitter account.
