Pikmin 4 Is Real And It’s Out Next Year
It’s true, I cannot believe that I am writing this. Pikmin 4 will be out in the next year.
Let’s get right to it – Below is the Pikmin 4 official announcement trailer
Pikmin is an extremely special franchise for many, yet despite it’s niche appeal, it has never reached the same heights as other Nintendo franchises. In total, the franchise has sold more than 8 million copies and Pikmin 3 Deluxe on Switch proved the franchise still had some (fruit) juice in it by selling roughly 2 million units in less than a year – a quarter of the series’ entire sales – and fans speculated this had proved to Nintendo that it was time for a proper sequel.
Shigeru MYAMATO, series creator, mentioned Pikmin 4 in 2015, when he spoke about it. EurogamerIt was still in development, and it was “very close” to being completed. The time passed, and then Hey! Pikmin 2, a Pikmin 2D spinoff was then announced. It was released July 2017. Some thought this might be the Pikmin 4 Miyamoto had in mind back in 2015. However, Miyamoto stated that in June 2015 it was. EurogamerIt is “progressing”, which seems to confirm that Hey! was not his view. Pikmin was the fourth sequel. Pikmin 4 was unfortunately not mentioned anywhere else by Nintendo, except for today’s Nintendo Direct.
Nintendo presented a brief teaser trailer with more details about Pikmin’s world before showing us the title screen, which revealed that Pikmin 4 would be arriving on Switch next year. As for exactly when, that remains unknown – Nintendo simply stated 2023. It’s still better than waiting to see when Pikmin 4 will actually be released.
