“Every challenge brings opportunity;” that’s what we thought when we started working on the next expansion for Surviving the Aftermath. WithBroken Hope The core of the game was our focus.
Focusing on survivors is better than aiming at a grand adventure. New scenario centers on the moon. The moon was hit by a huge collision, ejecting large parts of its outer layers into orbit. Majority of the debris from that collision is currently orbiting Earth, and it’s falling in meteor storms. The survivors will need to adapt again to this new cataclysm. What does it mean? The Aftermath: Surviving? Our game was launched in November 2021. It debuted as an Early Access title in October 2019. This survival colony-building game takes place in a postapocalyptic setting where only a few survivors are available. This game involves both world exploration and colony building. The colonists have to first survive the day. After that, they must build a flourishing society in the deserted wasteland. It’s a pleasure to talk to players and fans again, revealing what’s behind the scenes ofBroken Hope.
With Broken HopeWe wanted to delve deeper into the mind of humans. If it wasn’t enough to survive in the aftermath of civilization, now our survivors have to deal with the Moonfall. That’s right, the moon’s destroyed and its fragments are showering down from the sky, leaving behind destruction, but also some very convenient moon rock deposits. By gathering and refining lunar fragments, survivors can improve buildings’ production and increase their chances of survival. This “boost mechanic,” as we call it, allowed us to add more depth to the whole colony management, providing you, the players, with more opportunities and choices.
We are pleased to announce the expansion. HopeThe flow of time, and the impact of any disasters in the colony will affect the new challenge. It is well-known that even in the most difficult conditions people are capable of doing amazing things. While exploring the persistence of one’s mind, we decided to turn this invisible force into a concrete mechanic. This means that small actions and decisions will have an impact on your colony’s chances to thrive or doom your colonists into the final downfall. Want to boost your colonists’ Hope? Use the Building Boost mechanic to face the Moonfall.
The Moon is shattered in the sky and its fragments are crushing down on Earth leaving behind them devastation – but also moon rock deposits. For a short time, you can make lunar dust and refine lunar fragments. Overtime is a new type of building booster.
Have faith and enjoy the feast.
As the world experiences catastrophes, hope becomes a lower global value. It can trigger anguish, which if untreated may lead to hostile colonists. You can keep your hope high by having feasts at new colony square buildings!
Take care of your colonists with the new production chain!
If colonists feel anguish or pain, they can be helped by setting up a trauma centre where they will recover. A brand-new medicine, antistress, will help them recover quicker. To make it, you’ll have to grow raw resources on the mushroom farm, then refine them into the actual medicine in the med hut building.
